must kill the coral banded shrimp!

My giant coral bandit has killed several of my fish and all of my other shrimp along with several hermit crabs. Today he has struck again, I just watched him kill my fire angel. That was the final straw, I really liked that angel a lot, he was my friend and he was very docile.
I have tried to get him out of my tank several times but he is just to fast. So instead of loosing my mind or tearing apart my reef, I am going to get a fish that eats shrimp. I have a pretty friendly tank and I don't want to get something that will disrupt my harmony so I don't want to throw in anything that is aggressive. I also don't want anything that will harm my sea hare, corals, urchin, hermit crabs or snails.
That should really narrow it down, I basically want a fish that will destroy shrimp and nothing else. Do you guys have any suggestions?

six line wrasse
blue chromis
2 false percs
lawnmower and scooter blennies
engineer goby
decorator crab
emerald crabs
tuxedo urchin
giant sea hare
lots of hermits and snails
lots of sps and lps coral
While I was typing this I watched that shrimp take a swipe at my wrasse. HE MUST GO! please help.

before you do that.....try taking a medium sized fish net.....put a piece of food in it....and lower it into the tank slowly....
If you are lucky the shrimp will crawl in

Please pass this data on to the frequent newcommer who thinks that CB shrimps are cool and belong in their tanks. You'll see them post here about once every 3-4 weeks

mine came with the tank and once he was in there it was impossible to get him out. I have tried the net trick a few months ago when he ate my other chromis but he is smart and enormous. He is the biggest cbs I have ever seen and he is a sport killer. He didn't even eat much of the angel, just grabbed it and killed it.

I'm sorry to hear that :( I had one because I thought they were really nice looking....LOL....UNTIL it started eating my fish like yours is now.....
Have you ever tried hand feeding it? try small pieces of shrimp....let it come to you....and after it trusts you...WHAM....GRAB IT...LOL

that seems devious and he deserves nothing less. That being said I just want him out. I should have done this before he ate so many of my aqua buddies. If he kills my lawnmower blenny I know that I am going to tear down my reef and freaking eat him alive...and i don't want it to come to that.

Wow - am sorry to hear about your losses - that nasty cbs has cost you alot of money and heartache. I caught the one I had very early on in the hobby at nite by keeping the net in there for the day, then just before lights off, I buried a cube of frozen food in an open corner. an hour or so after lights off he came out to find the "bait" and I slowly moved the large net up behind him and before he knew what was gonna happpen - he was netted. but he was more of a nocturnal feeder/killer.... I'd find half eaten things every morning - unsure who was doing it - but I caught the cbs one nite at work and then knew.

If you don't care if he lives or dies, use a dart gun and blow his but away. Spearing fish and shrimp has been done with success before with dart guns.
Use a cloths hanger and beat the crap out of him.
Bait the guy with a mason jar and some food. Use a fishing line tied around the top to quickly catch him.
Use anything you can and beat and poke him to death.
Sounds cruel and unusual, yes, but he deserves it, and it will get him outta your tank without adding a useless fish.

You know I tried harpooning that KILLER damsel I had.....remember.....and REMEMBER I ended up tearing apart the 225G to get them out

Mine use to "toy" with my Tangs at feeding time......They have so much personality!!!!!!!!

I spent weeks fishing a CBS out of my 75, twas an epic battle. I don't understand why there isn't a more clear warming about how agressive they are when you buy one, even here!
To quote..."A longtime staple of the aquarium industry"....more like, let the buyer beware.

WOW my entire life I have had a CBS in my tank. Never had one ever do the stuff that you mentioned. Except battle a arrow crab, they both decided it wasn't going to end pretty so they gave up.

But a reef safe triggerfish or puffer to assassinate him! On websites, etc, I see they are peaceful. My gma wanted to but me one but know I know their danger! Wow am I shocked!

Every since my beginning in the hobby it's always been known they can be aggressive.....Shouldn't put the responsibility on the seller.....Responsibility lies with the consumer in this case.

Ya my cbs has eaten a longnose hawkfish, and a coral beauty. about every other day it seems he takes a run at one of my fish. I got him because my tang ate my cleaner and the lfs said cbs would do well... (ive actually seen the cbs "cleaning" my yt and clown with its hand down in there mouths, they seemed to like it)... I dont no if he takes a run at the fish because he wants to clean, or eat the fish, but i dont want to take a chance so im feeding him untill i can get him out!
Every once and a while someone takes off his whiskers, cant help but :rotfl:
