6 months is a short time to judge anything in this hobby, I hope you got some good ones though, water flow is the key to a healthy reef tank.

Cool! Nice work... doing your own stuff! That's the only way to go if you are able. Nice work space that you got there too!

are you going to put cross braces on your stand? Are you going to put any slats and plywood and styrofoam on top of it?! The suspense is killing me.

Do you feel that the all wood stand is going to enough to support all the weight? I'm getting ready to build the stand for my 125 gal and I was thinking that I would make a frame out of steel and cover it with wood.

go to your LFS and look at the stands they are hardly made out of anything and then you will realize it doesnt take near as much as your think it does to hold up a tank

I've looked at my LFS and unfortunately I live in Germany the land of steel fish tank stands. It's very expensive to get hardwood over here and the German's don't use plywood.

Pine and really cheap particle board. all the houses over here are made out of cement and the floors are cement too. then they put hardwood floors in. that is the only real hardwood available to me over here. I don't think that will make a real good stand.
When I moved over here a year ago a friend told me to bring a bunch of oak and walnut over here. He said that is is very hard to find. I'll have to find a mill that deals only with hard woods and I know that if I find one it will cost a fortune to buy wood.
So as to what I was saying before the Germans make steel stands and cover them in a type of particle board that is laminated, kinda like sauder furniture. It's not strong at all!
On the other hand the rest of the aquarium supplies that they sell over here are awesome.
Oh, I just thought of this. You can buy some plywood here but its thinner than 1/2" and not usable for covering a stand!
