Use this for a guide for what to test... ignore our #s that was our big tanks when our phosphates were out of control! The bottom of the sheet shows the spikes u will hit during cycle

the first 6 months we did... but we went to THE BEST LFS they REALLY know their stuff... we now bought a master kit and test it ourselves... beware of the lfs that dont know what they are doing... we went to 3 or 4 stores who tested our water and said we were cycled and ended up losing well over $400 worth of livestock!!!

This is not necessary IMO. First you shouldnt add anything to your tank that you dont test for. Secondly 540 ppm is too high for your system, a workable calcium level should be between 400 and 450. If you are considering dosing calc is not the only trace element you should be testing for Magnesium at the bare minimum but also Dkh and alk should be tested for too. Be careful with dosing, too much of one thing can be very harmful to your system.
With a small tank like yours weekly 10 to 15% water changes which is recomended is all that you should need to do to keep all of your trace elements levels where they should be. Testing will tell you for sure but I cannot stress enough never to dose just because.

looks good! only thing i have to say is watch that horseshoe crab. it is gonna get too big for your tank pretty fast, and you will have to find new living arrangements for it.
