Use this for a guide for what to test... ignore our #s that was our big tanks when our phosphates were out of control! The bottom of the sheet shows the spikes u will hit during cycle

all it says on the back is no more that 5 ml should be added at once
Ok if u have a ml ceringe start with 2 ml if not start with 1/2 cap see how it tests with that... and make sure you wait 2-3 minutes between adding the 2 of them... if u add back to back it forms a gel like substance... NOT GOOD!

do you have your LFS test your water or do you test it yourself ?
the first 6 months we did... but we went to THE BEST LFS they REALLY know their stuff... we now bought a master kit and test it ourselves... beware of the lfs that dont know what they are doing... we went to 3 or 4 stores who tested our water and said we were cycled and ended up losing well over $400 worth of livestock!!!

the ones we use is instant ocean master kit... it has purple little bags with powder to add... VERY EASY to use... just make sure on the sheet I posted you get all the stuff to test where we have writing atleast... ph and ammonia is a different test we bought cheap ones of those ... try to print out that sheet some how and make copies to keep track of your progress

looks good! only thing i have to say is watch that horseshoe crab. it is gonna get too big for your tank pretty fast, and you will have to find new living arrangements for it.

ok so when i bought all my equip the LFS sold me these chemicals when should i start adding them and how much i dont remember i think they said a 1/2 cap per day for the life of the tank.
This is not necessary IMO. First you shouldnt add anything to your tank that you dont test for. I know you test for calcium I saw it on the chart above, but I just wanted to offer that FYI for any other chemicals you might be told you need. Secondly 540 ppm is too high for your system, a workable calcium level should be between 400 and 450. If you are considering dosing calc is not the only trace element you should be testing for Magnesium at the bare minimum but also Dkh and alk should be tested for too. Be careful with dosing, too much of one thing can be very harmful to your system.
With a small tank like yours weekly 10 to 15% water changes which is recomended is all that you should need to do to keep all of your trace elements levels where they should be. Testing will tell you for sure but I cannot stress enough never to dose just because.

Hi

great start. as said above you might as well ditch the crab. those little guys get big fast and even as little guys they are quite the bulldozers and get under your rock work with ease causing a collapse. gl to ya
