my 5.5 gallon nano diary : D

yay so its been a couple days and the diatom outbreak i had is clearing up on one of my rocks and starting to go away on the other one. Theres more on the sand but the snails will fix that.
Also my sexy shrimp is a lot more active right now which is good, hes so funny always wagging his tail.
And finally my green clown goby has started to warm up to my tank and is finally out and about more which is nice because i never got to see him and now i do and hes eating more aggressively which i like too because before he was very timid and didn't eat much.
Picking up a few free frags from a friend this sunday and putting them in the tank. Hopefully getting 2 cerith snails and some chaeto from the lfs as well. Very excited for this weekend : D
omfg and i just noticed. I GOT CORALINE GROWTH I THINK : DDD
my rocks are looking splotchy purple. Today is a good day. Minus obama pwning face

...wait that "coraline" is actually looking like algae in some spots. is it possible its cyno?
heres some pictures for you picture lovers

Star polyp hitchhiker

yeah my buddy has a crappy digital that ill use when i actually get some stuff worth taking pictures of. Im pretty sure i know the answer to this, but my sexy shrimp apprears to be missing one or two back legs on his left side. when he molts will he regrow those lost limbs?

any suggestions about the possible cyno?
also i notice my desk gets really dusty...will my filter take care of any dust particles that fly into my tank?

I didn't see any cyano, but of course you can see better. Cyano is caused by insufficient flow or too much nutrients in the water. I assume you haven't been feeding your tank since you don't have any fish so most likely you are lacking in flow. IMO
Also the dust should just float on the top of the water and get filtered out, or you could always dust your desk

i do dust my desk!! it just gets everywhere. And i have been feeding my tank because i have a small clown goby and pistol shrimp. Im still working on getting the right amount of food and the goby is still getting used to eating

just did a like half gallon water change. i assume i have about 4 gallons in there because of all the rock and sand. So basically a 12.5% water change haha. Is it normal for your water to be a tad cloudy right after a water change?

No worries about messing up. If you do mess up it'll just be minor and easily fixable. It is really hard to crap on your whole tank.
Well... its easy to do nothing which is what it takes to kill a tank lol.

when i siphon water out and im getting all the stuff off the rocks should i siphon the sand too or leave that to my snails? It looks like their is snail poop in the sand...lol

I'm not too sure my opinion is just sort of spot clean. Like get the stuff you can see and leave the rest. You don't want to get too many of the good things out of the sand. Just my opinion.
Or you can leave it to other snails, I forget which ones eat deteris. Probably the cerith you need lol
