yes cuban you did use foul language in your posts end of statement and caused this thread to get hichjacked. I can still see the 2 that I deleted myself and one that another mod deleted thats three in one thread and the only thread you have posted in since you joined this board to boot.
End of discussion watch your language on the board.

How do you know if your bettas are ready to lay eggs?

they are triggered by the dry season. so as the water starts to warm up and receed they will start to produce eggs. keeping them seperate but with the ability to see each other will also intice the female to produce eggs. once the water level starts to go down the male will start to build the bubble nest. thats when I introduce the female she will usually hide for a day or so and stay away from him. the he will start his dance and then start squeezing the eggs from her belly. * *this part is really weird to watch because he squeezes so hard it knocks her out temporarily* * he then grabs the egg that he just pushed out takes it to the nest and then starts the process over again. after all the eggs have been extracted from her you must remove her because he will kill her if left behind.

And they just generate the nest from stuff that oozes from them? You don't have to provide anything for them to build a nest out of.

youll need to add some fake floating plants so the bubbles that the make will produce will hold together easily and not be disturb easily. but other than that nothing.

That is kinda cool. How much do they sell for. I guess you would have to have a market in your area to want to go to all of that trouble..

they go for about 289-389 each for the males here at walmart. its a lot of trouble and one miss step can cause the entire set of babies to die very quickly. also have to take out the male as soon as they hatch or he starts eating them. daily water changes small foods. and alot of TIME is needed to take on this endevor.
I raised 3 sets out of 9 sets of babies.

Well i have some very sad news. My black marble male died today. Not sure why but its sad. He was so pretty. And i have down sized to a ten gallon tank with 4" of water in it. Good thing i bought two sets of breeding pairs.
A note to all those who wish to breed bettas:
ALWAYS ALWAYS buy two breeding pairs.

The ones from petcos and walmarts ect. are too old to breed. Not to mention they are mutts. They have no set genes. I chose half moon because when i was looking for good breeding pairs they were most plentiful. And they are much better looking.
