Yeah, so I've seen too... I just need to get a starter culture and I think I could make it work, phyto too I guess to feed the rotifers?
I've resigned myself to having a basement that looks like a meth lab allready *sigh* all the tubs, mixing resevoirs, RODI unit, tubes and chemicals!
What's a few more?
Rotifers are easy. I wouldnt culture my own phyto though. Its much more simple to use a comercial phyto. I used to use DTs, but have found the rotifer diet to be easier and maybe even better. Cheaper for sure. I see hat phycopure is a sponsor here.. Maybe they have something to use for rotifers.
you can find simple culturing info on rotifer.com and they will even send you info with your rotifer order. Its easier than it sounds. Somewhere on this site, I posted some pics/info on my cultures. My culture vessels are a lil more "detailed" for ease of function, but a simple 3-5 gallon bucket can work great.
Take the time to get your rotifers going well before attempting to raise any fish. Take that time to take notes on gestation and spawning frequency...
Also slip a tile in wwhere they are spawning now. It may upset them at first, and they may toss it out of there way, but if you put it back, they (IME) will soon spawn on that tile which will make it much more simple to hatch the eggs.
Good Luck
