Well it's after 1AM and I can't sleep. Nothing is on TV and the people on this site like to go to sleep too early.
SOOOOO....I took a picture of my little gril dog sleeping in her new diaper. I don't want puppies just yet. After I downloaded the picture I realized how she has changed, shepherds really transform as they mature. Has it really only been 7 months?
My little 8 week old rat baby

10 weeks, now thats a puppy 29 pounds

12 weeks

4 months 50+ pounds

5 months

Tonight at 7 months..she is all grown up and in diapers LOL (Too young for puppies.) 85 pounds

were you going to spay her? It sure is a pretty sheppard. You get her groomed regularly?

No, I have a male with champion blood lines. She is his future mate, but she is in her first heat and too young for him for now so she gets a diaper. I don't want puppies until she is at least 2 so I can get her hips certified, she is only 7 months old. I brush the dogs down myself and I have a doggie nail grinder.
I have that rapid bath (doggie soap that attaches to a hose) that I use to bath them on warm days...In the winter I have let Atticus take a shower, Tamerah has not lived a winter so I don't know if she will like the shower yet..

Wow, I have never heard of that unless something there was something wrong with the pups. My Mom is the breeder; I have never had a dog with puppies in my life. I always had males. Male cats, male birds and male dogs. I had a female once..no puppies. Puppies are really cute but a whole bunch at once ...the idea of the smell in my house was enough to scare me away.
Atticus has this incredible show dog blood line. His father was a triple champion and all down his pedigree are champions on both sides. My mother said it would be a shame to not breed him. I did my research and after lots of coaxing I agreed to it. I purchased a female, I only intend to let her have pups twice..Far apart so it doesn't hurt her health. The Vet said two years to certify her hips and she shouldn't be bred before then. So that’s what I will do.
The diaper is to keep her from messing up the carpet...I have the dogs separated unless we are there and she has the diaper that he can't get past, which I find funny. I'm sure with a little determination that diaper would be shreds. So far LOL..Atticus is a gentleman and won’t rip at the diaper…so he can hang out with her, but we don’t let him mount. I have a friend who will take her to their house if it gets too difficult to keep them apart.
As you can see from the picture she doesn’t mind the diaper and she sleeps alone…LOL

Half grown sheperds look like such dufuses. I love em.
My Labradork is getting long in the tooth. Would like to get a GSD but don't want to drop a couple grand on a pup. The bred has been ruined for casual owners because of so many irresponsible breeders.

I agree, but I have never been satisfied with any other breed. They are so smart and the just seem to meld with my life style. They are not hyper and learn fast, are loyal and protective of family and scary mean to strangers. The biggest complaint is hair, they shed year round. I have leather furniture, it's the only thing that won't collect hair.
My Mom had a golden lab, sweetest dog I have ever met. Atticus and he began to fight (two alpha males) and her dog was sweet enough to be placed in a home, Atticus loves nobody but me everyone else he just tolerates. He is now going around to old folks homes, they love him. Just petting him releases endorphins.
Here he is wth a client (stroke victim): ...and a close up.

I like goldens and Collies too but too much work. I'd love a Pittbull cross but if animal control thinks a dog even looks like partial pitt in this town it's banned. Had a pair of Beagles for about 5 years, great dogs but gawd what a pain in the but. It's like dealing with 2 year olds.

No kidding, talk about a bad rep. Pittbulls have it in spades. Beagles or any hound I can't stand, too hard headed. That's what my Dad liked, we had them growing up. Maybe that's why I lioke Shepherds, they are not hard headed at all. We used to take the Golden to the groomers. Matted hair is aweful if you don't keep them brushed everyday. Around the ears seemed to be a real problem. LOL...My Moms Golden ate everything..nothing was safe, he even got into a box of books once.
My Mother loved to breed Siamese cats, she still loves them. I have a parrot and a dog so a cat is not a welcome addition. Those cats are so loud, but I loved the kittens, she always had a house full of them..she had 3 females and a male..a true happy harem

When they shower, do you agitate the fur to help allivate any shedding undercoat? I only ask because my wife is a groomer and all these questions are popping off in my mind. Do you know what a hydrosurge is? Ask my wife how to make one, it will save you a bundle of time and energy when bathing the dogs.

Pitts are great as long as they aren't around other dogs, or at least dogs they don't know. One of my Beagles ate a box of Jack Daniels Chocolates once, didn't even get the squirts. Talk about eat anything. I had a chicken sammich for dinner last night. Pulled the tomato off (I don't do maters) and gave it to my dog. You'd think it was a steak. This dog likes anything he see's people eat, including scotch. I made the mistake of sitting a scotch rocks on the floor one. Of course anything that is sat on the floor is his so.....

LOL...Well I can’t top that on what a dog will eat story..but… my friend had a Golden eat a pair of pantyhose..it came out the other end and he pulled it to try and help the dog..well that’s how he found out the dog ate the pantyhose..they were still whole, OUCH ...LOL
My Atticus is like a giant cat he is so finicky..... to get to eat, my Mother cooks him chicken legs to mix with his food., not good enough he wouldn't eat it. He was rail thin and hardly ate enough to live, so we had to do something.
So after trying different things we landed up chilling his food, and place his dog food on one side of his dish and the deboned cut up chicken on the other. It takes him some time but he eats it. First the chicken..just a nibble at first, then he slowly eats it like he doesn't want it to touch his lips. Then he walks away and I tell him to finish up...so he goes back to the dish and lies down and finishes his dog food. Then if he eats it all, I let Tamerah back in...she licks his bowl till it shines. Mind you Atticus weighs over 90 pounds now, no fat, he is no little dog. My Mother cooks up 10 pounds of chicken and debones it and tears it up and puts it in the refrigerator for us to feed him. The food must be chilled and not mixed.
If he does not eat it we save it to add to the next meal, but as a rule he will eat it all as long as it's chilled. The only good thing about his way of eating is that he is not food oriented, a bad guy would not be able to poison this dog..he will not eat steak, we tried. He defiantly could not toss some food and try and get past him either.

What kind of camera did you get? I'm looking into a new one

This isn't fancy..but it's a Kodak 12 megapixel...Easy Share M530
It has a night vision auto thing on it that flashes twice. I paid $120.00 so it isn't anything special. I think it's just been so long since I bought a camera the new technology surprised me...LOL…I wonder what a fancy expensive camera can do.
