Thanks. It's been 10 yrs now. The rest of my family wasn't at rest with it like I was. Faith In God made it much easier to deal with. Ironic that He must use tragedy to get us to lean on Him.

Someone sent me a story about the verse Malachi 3:3. Not sure if its ok to put the story here, but I found it to be quite powerful. I'd be happy to send it to anyone.
That will be fine to post it here if you like. I would like to read it. Thanks, Barry
socal57, thanks for sharing your story. I appreciate that. Barry

Sorry I just now got back to the boards, my mom is still in the hospital with good chances of coming home today. The discharge planner has been working on getting some things arranged with home health.
Here is that story, I'll also send it to the emails of those who asked just in case.
Malachi 3:3 says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.
One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.
That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining
Silver.
As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.
The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.
The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"
He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it." If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.
Pass this on right now. This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over them. And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.
"Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once."

I'll erase my address as soon as I get your mail.
thanks
praying for those in need of prayers.
My story of the power of prayer begins with my brother's car accident. It was bad. Head on at 55mph. He was on his way to my house when it happened. When I was notified I began the 2 hour drive to the hospital he was flown to. I was a little over an hour into the trip that seemed to be taking forever when I decided to pray that God watch over my little brother and take care of him. When I reached the hospital he had already died. My first response was of anger that I didn't get there to see him first. Then it hit me like a train. I asked what time he died. 8:05pm they told me. It was exactly 8:05 when I said my prayer. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I said it, but an incredible calm came over me when I realized what had happened. Then I wept.
God answers prayers.
I emailed and posted the story.
Your story sent me chills. I am glad that you were able to see God's work even in a tragedy. Another reminder for me is "God's answers are wiser than our prayers". Thank you and I hope you enjoy the story of Malachi 3:3.

It's amazing what the power of prayer can do.
Amazing story socal57che!
Just think...He's got it better than us. Running with the angles on streets made of gold. What can be better than that?
