Well after 2 months of hiding and reading in the dark i have decided to join in. Start sharing my first tank its about two months old my ph is 8.4,Ammonia is .12 nitrite is 0 nitrate is 10. i have a 65watt coralife light, but i realise that's not enough. a clean up crew, brittle starfish, coral shrimp, camo crab. I want to get my first fish soon, I want a pair of clowns. I'm open to any suggestions and criticisms good or bad. A friend at work found out I was getting into the hobby and told me about saltwaterfish.com messageboard and its been a big help.

What size is your tank? T5 lighting is cheap for smaller tanks.
As for advice; do not get a sea anemone....they suck. I can elaborate if you want me too.
If you get two clowns they may host in your hammers.

Thanks for the possitive feed back
tells me I must be going in the right dirrection. as far as tank size i have a 37 gall, a red reef Prizm skimmer,a Fluval103 canister filter. Next think I want to do is upgrade the lights. I want to upgrade the filter I just dont know wich dirrection to go in, hang on filter?, Sump? Wet Dry. All I do know is I enjoy my tank so much its like its my new TV.

great start, I like the rocks you chose. If you are a handy DIY kinda guy you should build your own sump, on a 37g you probably can use like a 20 long for it, just use glass/acrylic for your baffles and customize it to your needs.
good luck

if your up to siliconing baffles in and doing all of that then it is the best way to go, and it can be way cheaper than buying a wet/dry from your fish store. In the light/equipment/diy section there are a few threads about it, or just google DIY sump and you can even do a search on this site, ask any questions you may have about it.

thank you ...sounds like a plan I have poison dart frogs as well and do all their tank build so maybe this will not be to bad.

When can I expect to see coraline growing in my tank? I see it in many of the established tanks.

your tank is still "young" at 2 months, once your bacteria gets established and stable, I'd say it will start to spread, I don't have reef tanks so I really am not sure but that is my guess. both my tanks only have some coraline on the rocks but I don't add supplements so it doesn't really spread...

Thanks Salt Life. Do you think that the T5 light are the best lighting??and if so could you be more spacific on the subject, How many do I need? What size? Color?ect. its alot of money and I want to be sure to do it right the first time...I have a 65watt coralife with a 24" reef sun 50/50comb 17 watt 6500K piggy back and have found out thats not enough. I thought about going back to the LFS and adding another 65 watt coralife lamp that will give me two set ups with 130watts. What are your thoughts????

It is expensive put MH are really good and you can also get some t5 blubs to go along with it. Isn't you nirate a little high for corals?
