I know the feeling....Luckily I found this place a couple of months in....although I had already spent a lot on insufficient things
JUST read up...and DO NOT buy anything else as far as livestock until you finish upgrading your equip andstuff
What all needs to be upgraided? Like in your opinion, what would you get for a 55 as far as equipment?

Anyones opinion welcome on what i MUST add to my equiment, all i have now is 2 hang on back aqua tech power filters, each rated for 330 gallons, an aquon curculation pump 950 gph, led lights. Other that getting some t5s im not shure what else i need to upgraid and to what.

I looked back..only see one filter
anyway.....maybe you just need to let the initial cycle finish.....I think you started throwing things in before the tank was ready
and look into a skimmer

There are 2 filters on my tank now. I added the second one not to long ago... there is nothing in my tank right now(live stock, just live rock) and there will not be for 3 weeks. so far the tank has been cycling for 6 weeks. How long does it need to cycle, a year?

Sorry, i was falling back into my old impatent ways..... so this means i dont need to be ordering anything right now. Im also sorry i dont mean to annoy anyone with my dumb questions. I should know all this already. Il just focus on the cycle and if it takes a year then so be it..... well i might need to throw a blanket over the tank so i dont haft to look at it

Ok i have just made up my mined, im going to start my canopie build!!!!!!! I really want one. Its gonna come in handy to keep the cats off the top of the tank. (I keep catching the kittin wanting to jump up thier) Im going to build it obviously because the pre-made ones online cost 300+ and probly would end up not fitting the tank right.....ouch!! Its going to be 48'' by maby 24'' tall, black to match the stand. Im going to the local lumber yard to get the wood on tueday. In the mean time i will brain storm ideas and draw up what i want it to look like.

Plus this will distract me wile my tank is still cycling, you know , cus its taking sooo LOOOONNNNGGGGGG!!!!!

I wouldn't go as far as 2 foot high for a canopy... That's overkill, but if it will keep kitty off the canopy, then go for it. If you are going to be getting t5 lights, I would wait for them to come in, so I would know where to cut it for vent holes, and see how the lights are going to sit on top of the tank first.

yeah, now that i think about it, maby 16'' will be better.
and still keep the kittys off.

Oh ya i almosed forgot, when i was at the lfs store the other day talking to them about the SMALL cuc crew im going to have them order in a bit for my tank, i told them i wanted a few snails and a few crabs. They said ok, how about a coral branded shrimp and maby a star too? lol im guessing that would not be a good idea.... but im only guessing i really dont know, would it?

Here is some pictures of my canopies, they certainly keep my Jack Russell off the tanks, J/K
This one doesn't have the doors on the front yet.
But the beauty is that they hinge from the back

This is my 65 FW planted set up but I have tha same for my SW but no top on it, I don't have cats.

You can have the coral banded and star no doubt... just that they shouldn't be treated as a cuc, more as another fish or coral.
