Quite a bit actually. Most saltwater livestock has been sold. Live rock and corals are all gone, dead, or dying. Im going back on Sat. to buy more stuff.

hmm are the dying corals normally priced? if not, id be willing to take a chance rescuing a few corals if theyre only a few bucks.

this is a perfect way to explain our economy!
This is one topic where I don't think the "economy" is controlling.
Here, where I live, we have crappy LFS's and awesome ones. The crappy ones are going under and the awesome ones are doing well.
Hobby type businesses need to be well thought out, well planned, and controlled.
Most of these types of owners are just not business savvy.
One of our crappy ones here was selling equipment way to expensive. When I told him I drive right by his store and all the way into tampa to save money, his response was...
"Well, we never did learn how to price our equipment, nobody ever taught us what the markup should be"...
This is the owner!!
yeah, I foresee a few going outa business near me too.

Which one is Franks? I'm not a big fan of the lfs's in fort worth. My favorite minus the shark chopped its store in half.
Frank's Tanks. It's on Old Granbury Rd. south of I-20. Small store but some of the nicest coral pieces for the best prices in the area. He just went nuts on some Acans though, about $10,000 worth. THOSE aren't cheap. Everything else in the store is though.
There aren't very many good LFS's in Fort Worth. Frank's and Fish2Morrow are the only ones I shop at. Otherwise I'll drive to Dallas and go to The Fish Gallery or Dallas North Aquarium.
The True Percula in Arlington is also pretty nice, but all their stuff is WAY overpriced.

Or just crappy stores, the vast majority of small business fail. For ALOT of reasons, mainly by their own doing.

Better watch what you say Bush lovers say 's the economy is doing Good.

If you care to discuss the economy I'd be happy to, but please leave the an attempt at a classless bash in the actual political threads.

hmm where is fish2morrow? Dallas North can't be all that cheaper than The True Percula. The last time I went there on my way back to houston they had a mantis in their tanks along the outside wall. A huge one, it was really cool. They had decent fish, and well thought out and build store. The problem is when you poor boy stuff like I still have to do, they are too rich for my blood.

Well, Wet Pets Plus is not going out of business due to poor sales. Its closing because no one bought it while it was for sale. Jon the owner, his hobby like ours is fish. He liked it so much he made a career out of it. Now hes older and is hobby is no longer that much fun because he is forced to do it as "work". So hes selling it off so he can enjoy his retirement. Although I will miss the store very much as it is one of the only "local" stores around I fully understand his decision to let it go and relax.

My store's been up since 1985. I wish they would open a new one so I didnt have to go to that crappy, overpriced hole in the wall. They have nothing good as far as fish and coral, just the water I need for changes and then the occasional thing catches my eye

Because there is a place and a time for everything. And this isn't the place.
Go ahead start a thread, and I'll walk you through how you are wrong. Not that you'd listen anyway.
