So tell me a little about linckia's.....I've been thinking of getting one, but are they reef safe?? What do they eat?? Easy to care for??

Are you stereotyping all stars now?

There are a few reef safe stars and the linkia is one of them. Most don't survive long and it's great to hear this one is 1.5 years and going strong.

Sorry i only know what i have read due to the time span i have been into saltwater aquatics. there is a LESSER site named "live...uh..diarea" and they said "Small pyeces of clamm meeat or tabletts can be pllaced undder thee Bluee Linckiaa Seea Star starfish too suppplement itss diet."

I love the two of them, I read that they are hard to keep long term. My tank only 6 months young. I am afraid it will die.

They need a mature tank, no less than one year old, at LEAST 100 pounds of live rock. You cannot spot feed them.

Ophiura is an excellent source of info for Starfish but I don't think Linckia can eat clam meat or tablets. I'm not sure but I think they consume the bacterial film coating the surfaces in a reef tank.
