Your birdnest is dying (bleaching) and from my experience, you need to frag out whatever piece that's alive and throw away the white part. It will spread and kill the rest of your coral.
What lights is it on now? What light was it in the LFS? Did you acclimated properly? Temp, ph, salinity and lights in general.
I suggest you bring up your ph using kalkwasher if you are not doing so already and do it steady. 7.8 you are on the slight low side.
also put it towards the bottom and let the corals adjust to the lights.
It sucks but it's unfortunate part of this hobby.

Sponge coming from your liverock. If you really want to kill it, lift the live rock abpve water and expose it to the air for a bit and that will do the trick.

No worries. :)
Be sue to get ready to do some water changes as it will affect the water chemistry if there are tons.

It's been awhile since i updated but i started a new job and been real busy but with all that said i went to my lfs today and got a couple of things but had some concerns...they had a lot of dead fish and i asked one of the employees why are there so many dead fish and he replied that there was to many fish that came in at one time but i seen some of the same fishes there for awhile now...don't realy know how a fish store operates but dose all the tanks run all together....i would think that it will be the cheapest way but if there is a sick fish it would be very harmful for all...i seen there display tank and it is full of life with corals and fish but why can't they keep there seller tanks the same...let me know what your thoughts are...they are all welcome..lol

Ahhh.... im not sure if it's wise to get one. They grow super fast and super territorial. .. its a beautiful fish but im scared that you won't be able to keep it for a while.
