i just stopped by the lfs and they sell ro 4 .50cents a gallon not bad until i pick up a unit. now that i eliminated that problem im currently adding concentrated iodine daily, strontium& molybdenum and marine snow each every couple days what do u think. once again thanks it really inspired me that u were in the same situation as me and now u have a kick ass tank hopefully i can do the same.

if you do water changes regularly you will have all that stuff going into your tank. I do not dose anything that i do not test for esp iodine. that could also be your problem with things dying. stop the dosing, test all of your levels and see what needs to actually be dosed. im sure ur iodine is fine w/o dosing. an overshoot of that could be terrible for your tank. i do not even mess with it myself.
next steps.
*get all levels checked and tested
*do weekly water changes with ro water.
*make sure your doing fresh water top offs and not salt water top offs(i just put that in there because i used to do that haha)
what are your parameters currently?

trates are good salt is good along with calcium all at reccomended levels. now that im using ro i assume i should start keeping an eye on calcuim because ive never supplemented it (assumeing its already in tap water).

haha good about teh freshwater topoffs, and yes u have to watch your carbonate (alk or dkh) and calcium levels with ro/di because none of that comes with the water anymore.
id be more concerned about dropping carbonate levels first and foremost. thats the most important element in preventing a ph crash. so keep that alk around 8-10

alk = ph? my ph is also good 4 now, what is dkh ? and 1 of your earlier posts you said you supplement with kent trace elements but if you do the water changes every week should you have?

dkh is alkalinity or ur carbonate level. if you have a low dkh u r prone to having quick ph shifts. just a little peice of advice u should know incase.
my bulbs that im using are Radium 20k moguls. i run my moguls on a HQI ballast because they are meant to be ran harder than other bulbs. It gives the growth element along with the color. they are quite expensive, but well worth it!

These are some awesome pictures. Do you mind me asking what type of camera you have? We are looking for one so we can take some close up pics!
Thanks!

Thanks broken, the camera i currently use is a canon rebel xt. if you want a decent camera for close ups, get a canon xsi and a macro lens. those will give you those sharp close-up shots you want

and thanks crypt for the compliment. I run 2x250 watt 20k radium mogul bulbs on a pfo HQI ballast. these bulbs are designed to handle to over-ride that a hqi ballast gives a mogul bulb. i love the bulbs i use i dont supplement with any vho or actinics either
