I know that Scotts has quit playing. He said it got to the point where he couldn't enjoy the races, worrying about his picks instead.

I'm still playing when I remember to switch the drivers hehehe. Forgot last week and luckily they were pretty good. This week should not be that difficult, see how everybody did at the last Michigan race not long ago.

I am enjoying the races SO much more this year. I used to watch and worry about my drivers. Now I just sit back and enjoy the race. It is a blast! That is also one reason that I don't have a true favorite driver in NASCAR, I can just sit and watch and enjoy the race and the ins and outs of what everyone is doing. Although I do like to see Mark Martin do well, he is such a class act.

See now, if you had a favorite manufacture in the race, even if your
driver is out of the race, at least a Chevy/Dodge/etc won... At least that's how I hang my hat since Harvick has the longest winless streak in Nascar among actives
......

Oh I want to see Harvick do well. I loved his interview last week after he wrecked. It is just now I watch the race and see who did well right off the trailer, see who makes the right adjustments, who makes a bonehead move. Before I would watch and go "OH NO!" if one of my drivers had a bad pit stop.
Let's put it this way, the last time I had a favorite driver it was Johnny Benson. So it was REALLY hard to watch races rooting for him.

Seriously?? I root the 20 weather I picked him or not. I could get 100 points in fantasy and not care as long as Smoke does well.
I have been pretty happy this year

I can name you about 15 drivers that I would be happy to see win. Some people may call that wimpy, but I prefer to think of it as being a true NASCAR fan. One time my wife was talking to someone about baseball and she talked about watching the Dodgers, and not really any other team. The guy said, "Oh you are a Dodger fan, not a baseball fan. If you are a baseball fan you can watch any team play." I like to think that applies to me and NASCAR.
Also Tony Stewart is a bad word in this house. You should hear my wife go into her whiney Tony voice everytime she sees him on TV. I will admit I like how he is doing this year, pretty interesting.

LOL, that's part of why I like him...Because everybody else hates him. I have met him before as well, he was actually very nice. Not surprising, I have met 5 or 6 Nascar drivers, and they were all nice. Kyle Petty was a member at the last golf course I was at, that guy is world class.

I can see Tony Stewart and Kyle Petty as being super cool dudes to hang with. Problem is...as far as racing is concerned, Stewart is still an SOB that cannot contain his emotion on the track. He has come a long way since becoming an owner, and I'm liking his style more and more, but he is what he is. And Kyle Petty...
what a freakin' joke. I don't think the guy has ever given an honest attempt at winning a race. People rag Earnhart Jr. about riding his Dad's coat tail's, but at least Jr. is out there running wide open. Petty is/was just circling the track so that he can keep the "Petty" name going. I don't think I'll ever have much respect for that hippy.

Then you must REALLY like Kyle bush.
That's awesome you have met so many racers. I think racers are just regular guys who happened to have made it, not like other athletes who grew up being treated different because they played sports. You know who looks like he is having fun is Joey Lagano.
D, I know you have a beef with Kyle Petty, but man the guy started the Victory Junction gang and puts so much time and effort into it. Any guy that does something like that for sick kids is OK in my book.

Yes, you are right. I do like some of the charity things that he does, especially his bike rides. I just wish he would stay off the racetrack. Does he even run anymore? I don't keep up with him, but last I knew, he was part-time running and part-time announcing.

Anyone watch the race? Was actually a pretty good one. This was my 2nd race with DirecTV and the HotPass channels we get. Brief synopsis, you get 4 channels of different drivers, on the channel are 2 boxes, one of the live race feed, and one of the driver, usually the roof cam and sometimes in-car or bumper. During the race you get the regular broadcast audio, but if the driver/crew chief/spotter talks on their radio, they mute the broadcast and play the team chatter. Which is really cool, one of the things I enjoy about going to the races, always bringing my scanner and listening in. Except for the fact they don't (err can't) do it on the commercials. Which sucks because when the teams are always talking? Under caution. And when do they always take commercials? During cautions.

Still cool though, Jr.'s was one of the channels this week (they change weekly) so listening to them talk when he was flying up at the end was cool. And about 1/3rd the way in, Jr. was stuck racing Stremme, and his spotter (think it was T.J.) said "watch out, this guy's an idiot."

Anyone have a comment on the Vickers/Busch/Keselowski Nationwide finish?

CONGRATS Team Red Bull on this weeks win!

Kinght, that sounds awesome the way they do the scanner thing while you are watching TV. I am jealous. Although you are right, most of the talking that they do is during the cautions. But oh well take the good with the bad.
I did not see the Nationwide race so all I can say is

Hey during last weeks race they showed Jimmie Johnson's wreck at Watkins Glen, did you all see it? It is one of the coolest things you will ever see.

Here's the Nationwide finish. Don't have to watch the full 10mins, just to around 3 mins (interviews are later).

For the Johnson crash, you mean the Gordon/Burton/Hornish crash during the race, or Jimmie's old wreck from 2003 IIRC, where he lost his brakes, wrecked, got out and stood on the car? Both were pretty nuts. I gained respect for Johnson after that wreck. Many times I've seen in other motorsports, the driver just freezes up and they just plow headlong into the wall. Johnson tried to arc the car through the inside of the turn and kill some speed.

Nascar doesn't exist in my house on weekends of "major" PGA Tour events like the PGA....Seriously....There was a race this weekend?
Who knew.

AK, I was talking about the smash in the fence and then him standing on the car with his arms raised in victory. I remember watching that over and over when it happened. I thought he was dead at first, but the best was him getting out and climbing on the car.

That finish in the nationwide was amazing. I was watching it with the sound off so I knew Brad's car but did not know who the other two were. I thought the 32 car was giving it all he had and figured that had to be Kyle. I was surprised when I found out at the end it was Vickers. He was going for it, Brad just had too much car for him.
KJ, I have a little known fact about the golf. Did you know that Tiger had never lost before when leading going into the final round of a Major? How many times did you hear that on Sunday? Yang played well enough to win, but man Tiger missed so many putts by 2" or less.
