How can you say that? I actually didn't recognize 90% of the Nationwide drivers, but from what I heard, most of them were "road course specialists". In the Sprint race, you had Boris Said and Robby Gordon in the front for most of the day. When's the last time either one of them broke the Top 20 in a non road-course race? I personally don't care for road course races. Unless the leader does something stupid (as in the case of Marcos Ambrose), the lead doesn't have many dramatic changes. Passing at the end of the race is almost non-existent (who even challenged Edwards in the Nationwide race). Yea, the double-file restarts made it interesting, but the only place you saw much passing was around the hairpin turns. Of course you had Gordon ticking everyone off with his 'bump and spin' routine. It'll be interesting to see if Denny Hamlin stays true to his word next week at Loudon with Gordon. What was funny is when they interviewed Gordon at the end, he stated he kind of expected Hamlin to retaliate.
Somebody needs to start a pool as to how many laps it'll take before Hamlin tries spinning out Gordon at Loudon. I say Lap 10.
Only 3 of the top 12 in the Nationwide race were roadcourse-ringers, and only 2 of the top 20 in Sprint cup were ringers, including Boris, which isn't exactly a ringer, as he's done several oval Cup races. Boris and Robby were definitely not out front all day, Jimmie was clearly the class of the field all day, till Marcos' car came in, later on in the race.
Both races were really exciting IMO. It's not just about the lead, cars throughout the front were beating and banging all day. If it was about the lead, then any road course race is better then all the typically horrible to watch 1.5 mile D-shaped tracks (Michigan, Texas, Las Vegas, California) where the same guy leads 220 of 250 laps, with only 11 cars finish on the lead lap. The 2 times, IIRC, Boris had the lead because of pit strategy on a caution, he overcooked turn 2, and lost the lead.
You mean Martin Truex, not Hamlin though. But yea, it will be interesting to see what happens with Truex and Gordon. Nothing has happened from the Harvick/Logano deal, so we'll see.
