Colin Cowherd had a good point, if you were a successfull UT grad where would you rather take a long weekend to watch your team? Madison Wisc, Happy Valley PA, East Lansing MI, ect.; Or Phoenix, L.A., Bay Area, and Seattle....I would sure as hell rather be in the Pac 10 if I were a UT person.
lol you've never driven across texas, it would take you friday to get to El Paso, then most of saturday to get to LA, the Bay area etc. That is a 22 hour drive...

Yeah, except if UT fans have to go to Autzen to watch a game, Oregon Duck fans are as nasty a bunch as I have ever seen at any sporting event. My suggestion for leaving the stadium after your team wins is either a police escort or a variety of melee weapons. If your team loses it will be only slightly better.

Notice I didn't mention Eugene, Corvallis, or Pullman
....I'm pretty sure the Pac 10 would boot Washington St. if they could.

Being a life-long OSU fan I can tell you with the success of the Beavers in the last few years and the stadium expansion things have really changed a lot and not for the better and I am going to fewer games every season, even the people we tailgate with have had things stolen while they where watching the game. Still the crowd hostility level is nothing compared to Autzen though.

Jay Mariotti, who I constantly called an idiot and disagree with on Around the Horn, nailed it.

LOS ANGELES -- Wasn't it so amazing, so crazy? There was Will Ferrell, hanging out at practice. And Snoop Dogg, chatting up Reggie Bush on the Coliseum sideline during a game. And was Matt Leinart really spotted coming out of Par!s H!lton's condo after sunrise, cap backwards? This wasn't a college football team. USC was a scene, known as the Trojans for more reasons than one, a meshing of an L.A. sports phenomenon with a Hollywood crowd always seeking its own links to the supercool as well as wealthy boosters willing to throw around loose money for autumn Saturday thrills.
Thursday, the party ended, with not a celebrity or groupie in sight at Heritage Hall. Seems the in-crowd has moved on, preferring not to be associated with cheaters.

I know they have to cater to the $$, but the kids are what makes a college game the college game. You make the football unaccessable for half the game, you ruin the culture of your program... Think about the games they play now. Texas vs OU, Texas vs A&M, they you have Baylor, OSU, Nebraska, Arkansas , you can play most your game within a weekend's for students.

Students are rarely at away games period no matter what. $$$ is what drives college football, they could care less about the students.
If what the Pac 10 wants to happen happens, it will devided into the 8 coastal schools and the the former Big 12 teams will be in the "Eastern Division" with U of A, and ASU. In football you will play everybody in your division, and just 2 games out of your division every year. Playing at UW or Oregon is no different for UT than going to Iowa St or Nebraska, you are not going to drive either way.

What is going on with the big 12 that this is even a possibility?
A good question....The Big 10 has tons of money and has been talking expansion forever, by getting a few more teams, they can legitamately add a conference championship game. The PAC is in the same position in that regard. The Big 12 is/or was a great conference, it seems odd to see it blow up like this.
It's all about football. Kansas has one of the top 3 hoops programs in the country and nobobdy cares or wants them, they will likely have to go to the Mountain West. Heard Bill Self yesterday, he's understandably very unhappy.

I disagree, they do lots of stuff to follow their teams. And it isn't too difficult running up and down I-35. (although nebraska is a pretty good drive...

Yeah but they live in Texas. Even a trip to Oklahoma or Nebraska must seem like a visit to paradise compared to Texas. If they will travel to those wastelands I am sure they'll make it to the coast states even if the drive is further.

They are probably going to Make USC Forfeit all its games Bush played in through 04-05 including the National Championship. They may take away the Championship trophy. They may also strip Bush of his Heisman.
The NCAA is also allowing any Srs and Jrs to Transfer this year without sitting but not within the Pac-10.

Actually if you could transplant all the Texans to California and the Californians to Texas Cal would be a paradise.
