First off- Sqishy, No need to feel stupid. I was simply trying to motivate this guy to do the the right thing, to provide the right conditions for his corals. 1, I hate to see such nice specimens die from lack of knowledge and laziness. 2, I also hate to see people get discouraged from this hobby so easily when it could have been so easily avoided. So IMO, you need to read more carefully.
Azonic- Only an idiot would seriously take offense to what I said. First, you are wrong for saying that he had ALREADY SAID he was getting the pc's. He said "WITH ANY LUCK". That did not sound very promising. To me, he did not sound like he was too serious about buying the lights, but more like he was trying to shut us up. Like I said before, I just wanted to make sure he was motivated enough to follow through. You may attempt to bury my remarks (advice) w/ your witty little quotes (which you may want think more over before you say them), but you are wasting your time, as I am right now. People like you are a little too sensitive for debates like this.
Powdertoastman- Good job! I'm glad you got the lights. It will pay off, and you'll get so addicted to this stuff. You think your broke now? lol My reef tank is like crack, every last extra dollar that is not going to bills, food, or gas goes in my tank. I have gone hungry a few times b/c my tank needed calcium or salt or new bulbs. There is always something. Anywayz, glad to hear all is well so far. Didn't mean to burn you too bad earlier, but that is the only way to REALLY get people to listen to you. And you gotta see it from my point of view also, I work at a lfs, and I see people buying crap every day that WILL NOT survive in their tanks, and it pisses me off to no extent. People WHO REALLY UNDERSTAND, APPRECIATE and RESPECT these creatures would probably react the same way if they were not afraid of being judged by others.... AZONIC!! The "be nice" approach does not cut it today. I have a hammer also, about the size of a cantelope. It's pretty cool. It is a very good indicator of water quality and conditions, so pay attention to it. Here is another little piece of advice- Don't pay attention to the number of posts each member has on the board. Just b/c somebody has 1,000 or more posts does not mean they will give you good advice, granted there are some on here w/ a lot of posts that know more about this stuff than any human should, but then there are people on here that have about 200 fish or coral related posts, and the rest are gabby, unrelated threads like "what movie should I see"..... So listen to the mods mostly and you'll find out who knows their stuff.
