New guy coming home today

LOL, What are the odds?
Awwe, but that name is too hard to remember! You should name him after your middle name, (or mine!) - Its Raymond by the way ;P lol, no im kidding, you should give him a name though!

They couldn't get that one healthy.
I can't even look into the old thread I'm so disgusted. I'll just have to start a thread "24g Juvie Rhino Tank".

I actually resisted the smallest volitans I had ever seen yesterday. I still don't know how I walked away from it.

i never name my fish, superstition i guess.
I had tanks of fish I named-gone. When i started calling them; Mr frondosa , Mr seagoblin, etc., I was able to keep them for years.
Cranberry- beautiful Rhinopias- i suspect he'll color up for the next week or so- looks like stress coloration now. Also nice to see the brasilensis has grown noticeably.
You guys are becoming quite the scorp hunters

when Renee said "smallest volitans she'd ever seen", we're talking 3/4"! i dunno how she resisted either, other than the fact that i pointed out that we have noplace to house another "swimming football" ATM...someday tho. had it been a species we don't currently have, all bets would have been off tho...
Frank,
that brasiliensis is a newby (about a month at our place), it's about 1/3 the size of our red brasiliensis (which has grown a good 2" since we got it), but this one's coloration is pretty sweet...yellow, purple, etc.

This is the old guy when we just moved him in with the Goblin. It's not meant to be a quality pic (there's no lights on the tank) and they we clustered in the bowfront corner, but it looked like he was saying "What does this thing want that keeps staring at me!"

The big Brasiliensis went in with the Inimicus. The small one and the caribbaeus went in with the seahorse and the frondosa went in the 24g grow out tank by himself (of course). You can see his size when compared with the adult Barbouri

The frondosa is so small. I'm super excited.
Frank, the baby volitans had the "Baby Dots" on the fins. If they were a little more pronounced I think I would have brought one home anyway. They were smaller than the Hawaiian lionfish when I first got them.

Have you ever been stung? Those are beautiful fish by the way. Absolutely breath taking(not like the seinfeld episode for those who watched it).

Not yet.....
We are also very careful and give them tons of the respect they deserve. If we are doing something in the tank we try to use a spotter to let us know if someone is moving in our direction. Messing around in the tank and moving them are the two times we are super careful.... but we know it's a risk and have read all we can on envenomation and what to do if we are stuck.... besides cuss loudly.
