New Octopus

I thought that I would post another video of one of my other octos, Marcus. He is in half of the Octo tank and thought that I would see if he could get the crab. His attempt reminds me of King Kong........

His newest trick is to carry the container up the side of the divider and then let go, he then jumps on it as it is falling to the bottom and rides it down. Need new batteries for camera and will get a video soon. I'm a little surprised that he still has so much interest even after failing to get the crab after so many tries.

Awesome octopus, cool video also. He did remind me of king kong when he was climbing with the container. Regarding the Mantis shrimp Vs Octopus scenario, it can go either way. I've heard from a top stomatopod/cephalopod researcher that when he tried to feed a bluering octo a mantis, the mantis whacked him between the eyes and he was gone. But octo's do feed on mantis shrimp in the wild, so it depends on the species and such. Goodluck with that octo, and keep the video's coming.

I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. The tank divider was enough to keep Marcus from paying a visit to Crush on his side of the tank. They were both on their respective sides last night at feeding time, but this morning, I see that Marcus paid a visit. Have been watching them a while and it seem like they are just embracing. Will watch a little longer before I try and figure out who belongs on which side of the tank. Maybe they will get along?

Gosh, I hope not. But I did have a new arrival Friday night as I was feeding the sharks & rays. The yellow spotted ray had a baby ray as I was feeding the tank. At first, I didn't realize what was happening, I thought the shark might have bitten the ray. It wasn't until I saw the new one pop out did I realize what had just happened. New one is about 2" in diameter & 3" long. The camera was upstairs so I couldn't get a video of the process. The new little one has spent most of the time buried in the sand. I had no idea that she was pregnant or that rays gave live birth for that matter. Pretty amazing!

White means fear..Crush looks like its scared out of its mind. I dont think I ever had any octo's turn that white before...

I would suggest giving Clyde the tupperware with the lid partially removed (maybe loosen up one side). This would help him to figure out that the piece comes off and is not attached and all one piece... Good luck and keep up with the octupi, they're amazing creatures!!!
