New Phosban Reactor

WEll I finally talked to a person...but not the person you are thinking...LOL....ANYWAY he was very helpful.....The couple places I called the XP3000 External is out of stock until about the 2nd week of July...so figure 1 month.....no problem I guess
BUT...this is what I'm gonna do....I am going to lower my water level in the sump to 6-7"....very doable cause we will modify the inside where the sump drip tray is, and lower that too...
I will plumb the XP3000 from that thing on the side...directly into the side of the sump......
I will use a Maxijet 1200 (already have) to bring the water to the skimmer.....I have been advised NOT to split the overflow.....could cause other issues....and believe me....I DO NOT need any other issues.
We will extend the over flow pipes in the sump lower...so the water from the DT will not be coming in 7" above the water level (that would be noisy)
I think that covers it :) How does that sound????

I'm not the expert but it sounds like you've come up with a good plan for your situation.

I'm just teasin...I think those octo skimmers have drain ports on the collection cups that you can hook up to a remote collection container to keep that from happenin.

There can be issues with big air bubbles entering the skimmer, but that's iffy IMHO. Alot of people feed their skimmers directly off their drain lines. Why not? You would be feeding your skimmer the dirtiest water. Don't see a real issue as long as your not draining to the while thing and it's controlled it should be fine, but that's your call. I don't think the maxi will give you what you need to feed the skimmer. You have to determine the feed rate or what the skimmer pump pulls. Your plan does seem solid. I would hold out for the skimmer and don't skimp.... You'll be pleased.

Yeah I'm gonna wait...it's only a month....maybe..haha
Since I have the maxi jet...I don't have to buy anything, and feeding the skimemr from the drain is always still an option....I have time to really think about it now, but I think when it is hot in hand will be the best time for the FINAL plans to be implemented.....

I have a reactor question? How often am I supposed to clean it? Or should I ask.....is there some type of maintenance I am supposed to be doing to it????

I don't know what the life expectancy of the gfo is, but depending what your levels were might dictate how soon it needs to be changed. What is your reading on the DT? What is the reading on the output of the reactor?

readings on both are 1
The only thing the reactor told me to do was once a week turn up the flow to tumble the gfo....I just didn't know if I needed to do anything else
