Meowzer, since you live in the middle of NOWHERE!, this might be an option for you:
If you're willing to get used equipment (some people refuse to do this) to save some money, search on ManhattanReefs. I can always pick it up for you and ship it to you and just do a payment through paypal.
I have someone that lives in Oregon that I ship to sometimes. He moved out there from NY and there's no LFS within 100miles of his house. Just a thought.

I think the XP 2000 would be a good fit....As long as you don't go stocking super heavy??? If that is the case I'd step up to the next skimmer, but the numbers are amazing and a good performer.....Here's some quick numbers....
40 scfh @25w in 6" of water
42 scfh @27w in 7" of water
45 scfh @28w in 8" of water
Dimensions are the longest points are: 13 3/4"L x 10"W x 22"H

OK..This is what I have decided so far... .I'm gonna use the 16G next to my sump...the 16G is a bowfront, but it measures 20" long....13" at widest part of tank, and 18" high
I ahve no clue about drilling it....My husband does not (or won't) drill glass...so I have to call my ONE and only glass shop to see if they will do it

What I need to know is this.....How many holes do I need in it? How big should the holes be? I know the hole size will have to match in the sump...but the sump is plastic, and he has no issues cutting that....
I have not picked a skimmer yet....I am waiting for some feedback from someone

BUT IF YOU GUYS could help me with those questions, I'd greatly appreeciate it.....I'll call the glass shop in the a.m. to see if they will do it....IF NOT....
well I'll talk to someone who told me they have a friend in acrylics....and see if they will make me a box with holes LOL

Honestly you would need 1 hole drilled for the water draining back to your sump.
Thanks guys.....my husband says EVERY time he ever tried to cut glass he screwed it up...LOL....So he would rather not do it....haha
I will call the glass people and see what they say....the plastic part is no issue.....so ONE hole...ONE inch....GREAT Now I know what to ask them when I call.....
Seriously looking at the Octo Xp2000.....Just worried about the size.....I read a bunch of threads that said it is good up to 180G's......and others said it would be fine for the 225G.

For $400 I need to be sure ..I can not keep buying stuff to find out a year later it's inadequate.....you know that I mean

You might want to double check on that bow front...when I was reading up on how to drill my tank I think I read somewhere that bowfronts are sometimes made with tempered glass on the front and sides...I'll see what I can dig up on that. How far is your clostest LFS, sometimes they will drill your tank for you...Not the big chain stores ofcorse but the lil guys.

LOL....I have NO LFS....The guy that is closest to me is 90 miles away, and he is in the process of moving to a new shop.....
Would the tank not say on it if it was tempered or not????
it was a 16G kit in a box from Walmart that I got as a gift a long time ago....

Odds are it will have a sticker on the bottom of it is...the sticker would say "this bottom is made of tempered glass" if thats all it says you are probably good to go...but if it says "this tank is made with tempered glass" I'd be carefull. After a little more reading on bowfronts, odds are the only place it would be tempered is the bottom and or the front.

I just looked...there isn't even a sticker on the bottom, and all the tags are still on it (LOL)
You know what, if the glass place will cut it...and it breaks who gives a crap at this point.....LOL...then I will have them OR ANYONE....make me an acrylic box with a 1" hole in it......
I love it here....but sometimes I HATE IT TOO

I hear that...I remember what it was like living in the middle of nowhere. I think the tank would be ok to drill on the side. But if it breaks...I'm not responsible

just my .02 but I double checked my tank with my sunglasses. if you have polorized lenses your tank will look kinda weird when you look at if its tempered. like spotty almost.
Again this is just my .02

Yea, if you're unsure of what tempered glass looks like with polarized glasses, just look at your car's side/back windows.
