The plumbing looks real nice. I like how you planned the relief line into the sump and incorporated some flex hose in there. That should cut down on vibration quite a bit. The dogs look pretty eager for presents.
Thanks Corey - the pump is actually suspended - do you see any problems with that?
Nope not really. I actually like the idea as long as the pump doesn't decide to jump around like a loose firehouse out of control. I doubt that it will though. Let me know how it goes. I too was wondering about the side panels on the sump. I know you said that it was recycled material but I wasn't sure if you were planing on keeping them that way for a reason or not. It is a really nice job you did with it either way.

SO I got the tank filled and running - it sounds like a 747 - here are a few shots of the set up - the pump is a 700 GPH - there are two 1" drains in the overflow, one is a working drain the other is backup, also on the drains I put a tee with a riser that is capped and a 1/4" open hole in it, I tried bypassing more flow - I tried plugging the hole on the drain riser - still very noisy. What am I doing wrong

Al on those 1/4" holes you had mentioned....I know that is the recommended starting point, but you'll probably have to open those 1/4" holes up a bit to quiet it down. On my 240 I did the same thing, and got tired, lazy and drilled and tapped the tops and put air line fittings in place and could adjust the amount of air flow to the pipes to get it tuned.

Thanks Flower, I went with FW - I had so much of the stuff purchased already and the sump compartments were too small for a skimmer, I think this will be fine.

Thanks Guys - I would love to get 4 or 5 Discus - right now in my 35 gallon where these plants came from I have 3 German Blue Rams - 2 angels, assorted tertras, amano shrimp, cories, neons. I can't wait to see them in here, I might give the angels away and get a couple Discus, here some more shots with the water cleared up some more, the sump is working great, pump off the sump handles the extra water no problem. Thanks for looking

Well a few things learned
1) Baffles at the media trays could have been a bit higher - I will add 1" to them. I do have a bit of water bypassing media tray #1
2) Drains - I first tried a tee with a 1/4" hole on top didn't work right away I plugged them and added a 1" gate valve on the main drain can't here water drainiing anymore.
3) Have to put a screen on the overflow - sucked in a fish today and it got stick on my makeshift flow control on the main drain (clamp) if I didn't have the backup I would have had 10 to 15 gallons of water on the floor.
4) Need to put a gate valve on the left side spray bar - flow is not even coming out of the two separate spray bars (not necessarily a bad thing)
5) The braided 1" line I used was not very flexible and does not hold it roundness - I am going to replace it with black pond line (ribbed stuff I think)
Positive feedback
There are two drains one is back up - would have had a mess if I didn't have the back up
This was a real good learning experience for me - next is my reef tank.
Thanks for looking again.

It was my pleasure to look at your beautiful tank Al. If your Freshwater looks this awesome I can not wait until you do your reef tank because it is just going to be amazing...

I agree, I didn't start reading this forum till I was well into it, thank god i didn't buy some things that i was hoping to get, like tangs - it would have been a disaster. I have 3 65 gallon tanks set up right now, they all look beautiful, everything is healthy and thriving - thanks to people from here. I a year my wish list is to build a 200 to 300 gallon plywood tank, a penissula style, first I have to make sure that this is the house I am staying in until I retire at least, I want some tangs.
