Al looks very good!!!! Love how you notched your framing, so the beam actually carries the load, your not relying on mechanical fastners. Looks very good! Will be following along closely.

Thanks Shawn, My head is spinning a little last night I got on the kick of a horse tank, but now I am thinking I should go with my original plan, I do travel alot and I don't think I could feed horses three times a day, after reading about that. But I am still going to convert my 65 reef to a sump. Thatnks for having a look, I think you could park a truck on this stand.

Stand looks good. Some questions or thoughts, did you plan the opening between the 2 vertical pieces to be wide enough to slide your sump in and out? Can you remove one of them if you needed to? Do you plan to have a floor in the stand and if so how will that affect the inside height from top of floor to bottom of the top of stand.
I am certain with all the thought you have put into this thing so far that you probably have all that covered. I know when I did my stand build I planned for all of that and still wish I would have given my self about 2 or 3 more inches on the inside. Hind sight being what it is and all I just thought I would rather ask you now and hear that you have then write you later and you wish you did.

Like what I see, as said you have great talent.

Thanks Gill again, good points yes, the sump does fit underneath and between the two verticle supports. I was just thinking what to do with floor, I was thinking of building a shallow box out of plywood sealed and painted for those unexpected spills, there is hardwood in this room don't want to wreck it. Thanks for your comments.

You could build your plywood box as planned and line and seal it with FRP board, or you could seal it using 2part epoxy!

That is a good idea Shawn, I heard that concrete sealer works well on wood as well. Todays project. Thanks buddy

May I suggest that you incorporate some kind of an evaporation / water barrier under your stand. I can tell you now that water is going to get on that floor no matter what you do but I would try to add those things if I could. Rubber mat?

That is a worry I definately have. So you think a rubber mat underneath would help, and maybe some small spacer under the plywood box to allow a bit of air circulation, 1/4" at the most - scrap plexi pieces. I appreciate this guys, this is my job for today.

I guarantee if you'd seal with a 2 part epoxy like West System, MAS, 3 Systems or US Composites it will be water tight, no seepage at all.

Al, maybe you could pick up some pond liner and line the floor with it then maybe tack it with some stapples round the baseboard and backside of the toe kick or bottom front board of the stand before you ad the plywood box under there. Just a thought.

I like both ideas, pond liner would work greatlike you said I could staple it to the baseboard and the stand, thanks guys.

Corey great idea with the pond liner, I got a left over piece 3' x 9' from our local pond store for 10$, i think I will only use the liner maybe put a thin piece of plywood under the sump. Usually they sell it for 1$ a square foot. You saved me alot of time.

Excellent. You know I'll need to see pix again before to long or I'll start jonesing and it won't be pretty.

Few more things done this weekend, not a lot, GFCI plug installed and pond liner in the bottom of the stand. I stapled it in and taped it with duct tape.

Yes leak protection, I was worried about the hardwood floors. I put my GFCI in after the stand was up - I have to tell you it was a pain I am not very flexible.
LOL...you should see where our outlets are

It will be tough, but my husband says he will be able to get to them, remember I have the sump/fuge and monster skimmer YIKES...they can not be moved either

I think the problem with mine was the leads in the box were not the longest so I had to work really close to the box.

This build is coming along nicely. I think it will be awesome once you get everything up and going.
