I have a ph, salinity, calcium,and nitrate moniter and they are awesome! They are a little work to calibrate but worth it in the long run. I got mine from salty supply .com along with my chiller.
I add Reef advantage calcium, I add about a tablespoon when my calcium gets below 400.
I had to order some new heaters this week cause my old one blew up in my sump and shut down my gfi, so I am replacing all my old heaters with new one. 3 Marineland Stealth 250 watt shatterproof heaters, so when I placed my order I added on 2 yellow gorgonians and a new blue clam.LOL
Yeah this reef thing can be real pricey! I am ok with it though cause I love it.
By the way I havent told you yet how great your tank looks
good work.

better to spend on the best in the beginning than buy 2 or 3 crappy less expensive ,,whatevers: whether it be skimmers, lights, pumps,, and have it right and much easier to manage

I now have a brand new coralife cl220 (349.99) sitting collecting dust with all my spare parts.
Ahh ....at least it wasnt to expenive of a mistake.

Nothing....lol....but last week ........we added a couple gorgonians and a new clam and a monsterous coral banded shrimp! My bristle worms are all but gone. Yeah! I was gonna put in a six line wrasse but was real hesitant. I didnt want it to chow down on all my inverts. Oh and I put a couple cardinal fish in the refuge to keep the seahorses company.

FYI...You need to get the cyano off the gorgonian...and that means it probably needs more flow on it

The gorgonians don't need light to live. They should be in a cave or under an overhang, with lots of water flow. Algae gets to them and kills them.
I like your tank
Really like the sun coral!

Those thng have been the bain of my existance lately! I couldnt find a place with enough flow where I could stick them in. They didnt come on any rock and placing them where the crabs and snails cant knock them over has been a problem. Question.....will the light harm them?

NO, light will not harm them....You can glue them to a rock if you need to...

a display fuge!! that is one of the smartest/coolest things i have seen! gotta give ya props! most of us hide ours under the stand...don't know why I didn't think of something like that
you have a beautiful tank going, cant wait to see more! one thing i would suggest is to move the return line from above your ballasts to around behind them.

i dont know if i would have added a clam to such a "young" tank, but it should be ok. i wanted to get a sun coral, but didnt want the inconvienance of having to target feed it. I still cant get over the display fuge!!! now I'm gonna HAVE to do one
ps.... took a D-6 dozer up to Vernon about 2 yrs ago...you guys live in a great part of the country!

Thankyou very much! I thought that the fuge could have so many cool creatures in it why not make it dispay......that was my thinking at least. Yeah I love living in the valley but man it has been a miserable winter and spring so far.
