I am glad that I am finally making head way...
I haven't been able to make and progress with this stuff... I should have just gotten this in the first place. It would have saved me a ton of water and salt!!
So does anyone know what this magical stuff works?

I am glad I could be of assistance

So a few update... things....
1- the cyano is completely GONE!!! THERE IS NOT A TRACE OF IT ANYWHERE IN MY TANK, SUMP, FILTER.... NO WHERE!!! YYYYAAAAAYYYYY

MELY- thanks so much for suggesting that product! I can't believe how well it worked!

2- My harbour goby that was believed to be dead... re appeared!!
you many remember when I ordered like 8 fish from SWF.com and I got a harbour goby. Well, he was properly acclimated and then added, and was never seen again!! I mean.. GONE! Never came out to eat, never saw even a shadow of him.
He is living in the little back corner cave of my rocks. Is this normal for the harbour gobies?? I mean, I have NEVER seen in out in the past month!!! Maybe longer!!! crazy!

hey no problem. My battle still rages but Richard (my cheap boyfriend) wont fork up any dough for the tank right now. I added more fish but I traded my lion for them.
I'm glad it worked though. that will be my next purchase if this doesn't start to go away soon. It's stopped spreading for me but is still there. maybe that's a good sign.
Good to hear you found your goby! I dont know much about their behavior so I can't help you with that. Just wanted to say "congrats! He's alive!"

He was out in the front of the tank last night! He is a sand sifter... FYI. This site says other wise, and so does the little bit of info I could find on the net...
BUT
ATTENTION EVERYONE!
THE HARBOUR GOBY IS A SAND SIFTER AND DOES NOT COME OUT TO EAT PIECES OF FOOD FROM THE WATER COLUMN WHEN I FEED. HE EATS LIVE MICRO FAUNAS FROM THE SAND BED!! I HAVE WATCHED HIM SIFT SAND THROUGH HIS GILLS.
lol that is my public service announcement for.... the public... because when you google harbour goby, you get basically... nil.
Now there is something.

So I picked up 2 cleaner shrimp last night. Dripped them and all.... they are happy today and foraging for scraps. I did not see them cleaning any fish, but there is not one spot on an fish, especially my blue hippo tang. He had 15+ spots and he is completely clean.
Also, my tank is finally clean. Now that I can see in there, I can tell I need more flow. I am thinking that I want a new sump pump. I have a rio pump that does about 1600 GPH. My tank is tall, and so by the time the pump pushes it up that high, (about 6 ft total) there is like no power there. The flow coming from the nozzles is like enough to a 20 gallon seahorse tank. It's barely anything.
I need more flow!
I was thinking of getting something about... I dk... like 3000 GPH?? I don't know who makes them that big or what... but...
What types, brands? Who likes what they have, or what they want?? What should I not get... I want something QUIET! and preferably not 700 bucks.
Also... I run submersible. That is a must.

so... about the vortec.... no.
I have heard awful things about those. even the new ones. People say they are LOUD and they are not worth the money at all.
Besides, My tank is in the middle of my living room and the less stuff on the glass, and the less wires, I am a happy camper.
We looked into it and said that if we have to do PHs, then we're gonna get a the koralis wavemaker setup.
I just don't want power heads!!!
Thanks though.... Any one else got any ideas? :/

Don't know where you are hearing that about the Vortechs. I have a MP10 in my biocube and love it.
Here are a few quotes from a thread about them on nano reef.
"MP10 here... 29G BioCube.. Would not turn back!! If your researching, you can't go wrong. Vortech makes an excellent product, with awesome customer service."
"MP-40W ... got one of my 120 right now ... about to pick up another one ... love them so much! Best powerhead on the market imo."
"Reef Crest 80% on my 20H, no regrets whatsoever, will never look at any other power head for an option If i can afford one, otherwise Koralia for the small budget."
"I just got my mp10 for my 20L a few days ago and i love it!!!! im using lagoon right now and am debating whether to stick with that or go reef crest. Any reason why you guys like reef crest??"
"I will never consider another pump for any future tanks. It's Vortech or go home.
Not to mention that their support is 2nd to none and they are only about 15 min from my house should anything arise."
"Have an MP20 on my SPS-dominant 20H. I switch back and forth between Lagoon and Reef Crest every other week just to keep it interesting. Usually run it between 60-80% and would never run another type of powerhead. Growth and health are amazing."
"I use an MP20, reef crest random, 100%, in a 40BR. It is one of the best investments I have yet made in terms of gear, imo."

great score on the tank set up!
the tank looks good sorry about all the problems you had along the way and are still having
what do you have for a clean up crew maybe critters are a better solution then using chemicals?
and more flow

did you ever get a skimmer?

I actually just posted a new thread titled "what kind of skimmer do you run" or something like that... no replies yet. I am ordering one this week for sure, I am just unsure as to what brand. I have one in mind but I don't know if it's good or not and I can't find anything about it on the net at all.
If you wouldn't mind stopping there, the whole thing is explained. I just don't want to sped 300 bucks on something and find out it's not good... you know?
I am doing better with the issues. I have adecent sized CUC, I don't like to have too many cause then things die and I feel bad. But.... I have tons of snails, an urchin, tons of hermits, 2 peppermints, 1 fire shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp and then 2 sand sifters.... I don't think I can add too much more. But after the chemi clean... and running the UV, my tank is sparkly clean.... Thanks
