NFL to have Thursday night games every week... your thoughts?

They have a chance to be good this year, if the strike doesn't screw it up. I don't think it's going to though. It'll be over by July camps.

My friend who works for Dallas Cowboys, says that they're prepping for it to end in the next couple of weeks.

This is the NFL's way of attempting to get the "NFL Network" onto the basic/non-premium packages of all the cable companies. This is the same kind of move that the "Big 10 Network" tried by making all teams in the conferece to have 1 conference game exclusively on their network. I know this tactic worked in Ohio and Michigan. Myself, I could care lest about billionaires attempting to make millions of dollars. I could also care less about millionaires attempting to make thousands of dollars. In this day and age, in the world of sports, $ talks and BS walks. Disney/ABC/ESPN spit out enough coin to get the BCS on cable. Once that happened, NCF became a second tier sport. When the NBA put some of their playoff games on TNT/TBS it became a second tier sport. When MLB put their playoff games on TBS.....When they let the all star game end in a tie....when they canceled the last 3 weeks of the season.... When Pete Rose was banned from the sport, baseball became a second tier sport. Putting regular games on thursdays is one step closer to having wild card saturday be on the NFL network and wild card sunday be on ESPN. Once that happens, the NFL will be a second tier sport.
All in all, its a smart business move for the league. This could make their network be on more basic cable packages. This will up their advertising revenue.
Atleast they didnt sign a 10 year deal with NBC/Comcast to broadcast the regular season + playoffs on a channel more than half the nation doesnt even get let alone have an opportunity to get with a premium subscription. Good Lord NHL, WTF were you thinking?

I wish with a whole heart that sports...all sports...had their very own channel...no sports anywhere else except that channel, running whatever sports the season is...24/7
I can invision we ladies purchasing a big screen TV for our men to keep in their man caves, where they can scream at the game and dump their beer and pretzels without being nagged. Give them a DVR so they won't miss anything when they go to work, sleep or eat.
I don't know how many times my show would be trumped by some sport running overtime....or...removing my show to have the game on. I think you boys deserve your own guy space, and we ladies to ours. They make a 100% cartoon channel...so why not?

Flower... there are about 15 of those channels... plus a bunch of radio stations similarly dedicated. IT'S NOT ENOUGH!!
BTW, I have a man cave... it's called my HOUSE. I think the ladies should get their own cave... wait a minute, they have one and it rhymes with fitchen. ;)

If you have hopes of that corner from Oakland going to Dallas then get ready to reach into wifey's purse for some extra coin.  Half the teams in the league are going to try to pay through the nose for that dude.

As the wise yoda once said to obiwan.....
"No, another there is."

.....My dear friend...LOL...a homes is not a man cave, nor the kitchen a ladies space, the famous cooks are mostly men..The kids and pets take over all space, a man cave is where Daddy goes to hide and find peace. Batchelors don't need a man cave.
Oh and I want to explain...I want you guys to have just one channel where you won't infringe on MY shows, when they go to overtime or want to unseat a regular program.
Glad your back Crimsy...I missed you.

Love you Flower...
BTW, I have a new addition to my formal dining room... it's a speed bag. As a bachelor I can tell you one thing for certain... dining rooms are stupid and a waste of prime household space! But I digress...

Thats why there is a clock on the stove right? LOL
No, thats wrong.
Lets count just how many 'women's' channels on cable there are shall we?
WE Womens Entertainment
LIFE Lifetime
LRW Lifetime Real Women
LMN Lifetime Movie Network
WC Wedding Central
OWN Oprah Winfrey Network
OXY Oxygen
HSN
QVC
And how many channels are devoted to men?
Spike
MAV TV
These are my opinions and I base this on that I never ever will watch the female based networks ever and my wife will never watch the male based networks ever. She has watched ESPN for equestrian and dog competitions.
Almost all of network primetime is geared towards women basically because they do all the shopping. This makes perfect sense and I have no gripes about it. Soaps are called that due to all the soap that was advertised during those shows. Not that men dont watch soaps, but its not like it used to be. If you dont like whats on the TV then change the channel. If what you want is preempted by a sporting event, tuff noogies.

EXACTLY! You have your channels, you know where they are. They have channels for kids, women and men...even an all weather channel, and a news channel. Oh and even a hunting and fishing channel.
....Why mess with another program because a game runs overtime? Quite a few times, for weeks on end because it's football season, the network unseats a regular program slot and then the network has the nerve to cut the program because it didn't get enough ratings...the program didn't get the ratings because the majority wanted to watch the regular scheduled program, and then turned off the sports game to go find another channel.
How would you feel if Sunday football was cut off for a Oprah Winfrey special, that went on for 5 weeks straight?

How about the Chickification of sports? It's ruined the Olympics. When I watch sports I WANNA WATCH SPORTS!!! Not some mind numbing estrogen soaked piece of drivel about some athlete who was inspired by the death of their kitten when they were 4 years old. There should also not be "feminine hygiene products" advertised during sports either. Beer, truck and Doritos commercials only.

So let me get this straight.
Crimzy doesn't like the nfl network game because he is bringing back the puritan religion.
Flower likes it because overtime wont interrupt her reruns oflaw and order or deperate housewives.
Reef is the last person in the country that pays that much attention to the olympics.
And last but not least, Rubin has a contact in the dallas organization and hasn't extorted him for tickets yet?

Only a woman wouldn't change the channel during a commercial.
Darth(and you wonder why we didn't want you voting in the first place) Tang

I rarely watch commercials....they are for folding laundry, getting a drink, scooping poop from cat litter, using the bathroom, giving fish a treat...etc....etc...etc....

So the only ones you paid attention to were the performance enhancers and the growth ads?

AND WE HAVE TO WATCH SOME OF THE TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS ON AN OBSCURE CHANNEL AT 2AM BUT RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS IS SHOWN IN PRIME TIME ON THE MAIN CHANNEL. What's up with that? Gymnastics isn't even a sport. Rhythmic gymnastics is an excuse for people who've never came back from the trip to get exercise.
