whats better my own DIY retro kit of MH and t5 (cost cheaper)
or a MH and T5 fixture? ($100.00 or so more)

thats how i had my rock set up at first, until ran out of room for corals.
true but i will be able to put corals on the side and stuff since its wide and tall. if anything i can always but more LR.

If you are handy, DIY would be better. You can hand pick the reflectors, bulbs, ballasts, everything.
But a fixture is just plug and play. They will both light the tank, so is $100 worth convenience and instant gratification?
The 90 wave is my all time favorite tank btw. I can't wait til you 'scape this thing.

Small update guys:
getting some mangroves, shave brushes, and pods tomorrow for the fuge. and gonna be placing some LR from my nano here!

well im getting the shave brushes and mangroves and pods from my playa(beach)! lol thats were all my lfs get there stuff as well. and im really happy with what ive seen. my 29g had pods, mangroves, and everything from there.

awsome bro! but i ended up not getting no more. i read that Mangroves absorb nutrients from the water in order to grow, and help lower nitrates and phosphates in the aquarium. They export the unneeded nutrients and excess salt through their leaves. It is important for nutrient control in the aquarium, that when leaves are dropped from the plant that they are not allowed to decay in the aquarium.
and i wont be able to remove them.
