woohooo my dendros came in! Any tips on where I should put them? It's on a standard flat plate about the size of a quarter so I don't know if I should glue it or what or even where to place them?

Wow, very nice setup and very nice pics too. Are you running this tank with stock equipment? If not what are your equipment specs?

if the dendro is stuck to the plate then place them in the sand.
and love the new pics bro!
sweet!
I had them in the sand but my housekeeper (diamond goby) kept spitting sand all over them. Maybe it was just jealous!!! I have some pics I am about to put up but I had just moved it on the rock so they are not out but you get the idea. I also forgot to mention the new wicked cool ora green birdsnest that I got, pics to follow as well

Thank you very much I appreciate it! The setup is stock except for the pc actinic that I just put in, thanks to nanotuners kit which rocks when the hqi is off! I also did the traditional removal of bio balls and replaced it with rubble rock and keep the chemipure elite in the space where there used to be the charcoal.

Here is a full tank shot today! Plus check out the acan! At first There was one large polyp that split into three, but today I notice 4 small babies growing on the bottom. Whoohoooooooo! Also the pic of the dendro sucks but once it is adjusted to the tank I will put up some new pics. The Birdsnest seems to be loving the tank though!

Man I keep digging through the old computer and I just found some of my ooooooold 75 gallon from when I had first started it too. I had this one before my 300 gallon that the hurricaine took away from me.

Not hard at all. It is very happy where I have him. It usually extends it's tenticles when it is ready to eat and I just squirt phytoplex on him. That's all there is to it. I am looking to trade him out for something though I don't know how much longer I will have it. Very easy out of all the corals too.

Wow, what a differance from start to its current look. Your tank has sure come along way. Also, I think this is one of the best examples of the JBJ 28G I have yet seen.
How is the stock skimmer performing for you? I find that I cannot get the skimmer cup off without the rest of it moving about! That is very annoying! So it means anytime I have want to open the hood I have to get hold of the skimmer body and then yank the cup hard to get it off the skimmers body. Right pain. How do you deal with the skimmer being so flimsy etc?
Keep the updates going. I saved this thread, so will look back to see how its all going.

Thank you so much for the compliment, I truly appreciate it. The skimmer can be a real booger but usually I can open the hood about 8 inches in the front without having to move the skimmer. The collection cup is a real pain to remove but I have it going to a collection cup in the storage area under the tank via the little (n ipple) for some reason you can't say the n word *n*ipple on the bottom of the cup. I have had a real tough time getting it to skim since I replaced the airstone. Those can be a hard thing to find as well so I just order 2 or 4 at a time online. My only question from the beginning was getting the water to flow through the filter device they supply. What was your solution? Do you have any pics of your tank? Again thanks for the compliments. P.s. the best thing I have done to the tank I feel was adding the actinic lighting kit that goes in the reflector area! It looks soooooo much better in person!

I only run one of the Accella pumps. I removed the nozzle off the other one and fitted the little black cap (which most poeple dont know what it is for!). So only one pump brings the water back to the display from the rear area. I did this for a few reasons:
1. With both pumps running, the water almost overbears the overflow.
2. I wanted to cut back on electricity costs (they are 16watt each). I can run two Korallia nano's and one the the supplied pump = less electricity usuage + more GPH (electricity is EXPENSIVE in the UK). Yes, I do have pumps in the display, but due to all the reasons above and below, i prefer to run one pump only.
3. I observed that with both pumps running at the same time, just as with overbearing the overflow, half the water just crashes out and falls PAST the filter device instead of flowing THROUGH it. This means that debris can also end up in the rear/side chambers and just rot there. Hard to clean back there. If the water flow into the filter device without crashing overthe side, then the detritus/debris will be caught in the sponge/filter pad etc and would be removed when I clean it during a water change.
4. With both pumps running I think the water goes through too fast in the rear chambers so if you're running any chemical filtration in bags etc, it's just too fast. I like the flow and how it is with one pump.
As for the tank I have not taken photos because, I only have a bit of liverock and two scarlet hermits in it. I am waiting for a shipment of about 12Kg of "Ultra" grade liverock to come in to my LFS (its one of the best grades of liverock available in the UK).
Being in the UK means I cant get the nanotuners Actinic Upgrade. Even if someone were to ship it to me, the electricty is 240volts here as opposed to 110v, so it wouldn't work. I am trying to locate parts for it though.
Do you have an auto top off? My tank has cooling fans so evap is high. At moment I am topping off daily but I will need to get an auto top off at some point. Was thinking of the Tunze Osmolator.
This is my third reef tank, I started with a 24G Long, then had a 90G, then had to give up the hobby about 6 years ago. I returned to the hobby and decided a nano tank would suit me best. I dont think I wil ever have a large tank again. A 40-45G Cube would be my ultimate dream tank.

Also, can you post your livestock list please?
I want to know roughly your critter list ie;
How many hermits?
How many Snails and types?
Fishes? I know you have two sand sifting gobies, anything else?
I'm trying to get an idea of stocking levels.
Also, how much sand and liverock do you have?
Sorry for the barrage of questions. Appreciate your response. Thanks.

That's odd...My jbj came with a wavemaker so only one pump is on at a time for a desired length, I keep it at 2 minutes each. I don't worry about a topoff since usually I just add maybe a half a gallon a week. As for the upgrade on the actinics that sucks to hear, it really brought out the colors of coral, but I'm sure you can find an actinic kit somewhere for 240v!

No more hermits, they kept killing my snails and picking at my coral!
How many Snails and types?
I have a ton of snails! 2 mexican turbo snails, 8 astrea snails, 3 of the fancy nassarius snails (good at stirring up the sandbed underneath), and a lot of baby snails!
Fishes? I know you have two sand sifting gobies, anything else? I have the one diamond goby and one yellow watchman goby. I have been considering 3 or 4 yellow tangs though. J/K

I have about 25 lbs of sand and around 20-30 lbs of liverock

No problem my friend!
