New corals!
My LFS is running a wed-fri frag sale; 50% off all frags!! I got a nice Orange and blue Florida Yuma for $5.00, and a large pulsing Xenia also for $5.00!!
....And that's in real dollars, not "tell-the-wife-it-was-cheaper" fish money!!

LMAO you mean you guys tell creative truths to your wives too?
Man I wish I could get some deals like that. My LFS only has 5 keys on his register a 3, 4, 5, 9, . , 0. He just arranges those according to the electric bill.

I think almost everyone in this hobby has been guilty at one time or another of.......bending......the truth about a purchase. To preserve their spouse's sanity, of course. A few of the members on these boards are husband-wife teams, so I don't know about them.
My wife and I have a deal. I take care of the tanks. She gets to look at them. We don't often have many differences about the tanks because 90% of the time I'm responsible about purchases, and the few times I get out of hand she usually lets me get away with it. For instance it was hard to justify 10 bucks worth of coral when I'm broke and job hunting, but when the sale was THAT good, it was too much to just pass up completely. So I guess today was one of my "10% irresponsible" days.

Hell I say throw the light bill in the trash and go back
My wife doesnt ask to many questions about the tank and the expense. I just tell her everything is real expensive and she doesnt ask. She does love it and I think its almost time for her to get another tank. I mean I know she wants one so whats the point of asking her. Wouldn't that insult her, after all I am suppose to know her innermost wishes as a loving husband of......crap how many years have we been married.....someone do that math we were married in 93.......beer does affect your ability to.....what was I saying?

LOl...I have made quite a few purchases lately...I think we all know what too..LOL...Well the other night my husband ordered some new gun stocks, and scopes from Sportsman guide.....this was AFTER my hmmmmm10th delivery..haha
I even placed the order for him
and didn't question a thing.....He doesn't ask about mine, and I make sure there is enough money in the account for his :)

Heheheh well it should make him happy that you're doing something that makes YOU happy...right?
Michelle is a cooking fanatic, and probably should have been a chef. So her guilty hobby involves kitchen gadgets , knives, and whatnot...and these things aren't cheap. So I turn a blind eye when I see the occasional package arrive from Chef's Catalog or King Arthur Bakery, and she lets me slide on my occasional dalliances at the LFS.
I'll post some pictures either tonight or tomorrow. I did a little rearranging when I added the new stuff, so I've managed to get just about every single coral upset with me right now. The only one I didn't touch today was my pagoda frag.

Still can't find my "good" point and shoot camera, but I wanted to try for some pics with the old one. Let's see how these come out.....
First, the pretty little girl herself....checking out the new larger xenia colony

My new orange ric. He looks like he's trying to split, but not sure....

A top-down shot of my Pagoda cup coral....

I put this new Xenia colony where the old one was, and moved the smaller pumping xenia a little higher on the rock column.

This one isn't new, but this colony has been really taking off.

I put the new small frag of purple zoos next to the neon green frag. I'm hoping this corner will eventually be covered with zoos...

Sorry the pics aren't the best; hopefully I'll find wherever I hid my other camera soon and snap some more pics.

Yayy I finally found my good camera. I'll see about a full tank shot tomorrow after I clean the glass. I'm really tempted to take the fake plant out of the back corner now, I just wish I had a good photosynthetic gorgonian to replace it.

Hmmmm....now to convince the wife. Well I got a resin model order in so I'm getting her a sprint Evo..... maybe we can sneak a 30 dollar order in there somewhere.

Here's a couple recent shots...I cleaned the tank a couple days ago and took out some more fake stuff. The full tank shot here looks nice, but it's going to change - I'm placing an order this week for 2 photosynthetic gorgs after all. Hopefully one will be big enough to "replace" the faux macroalgae plant.
The equipment pics are just showing you what's running on this tank right now - the Tom Aquatics overflow (light blue plastic) works nearly flawlessly. I hd to replace the provided airline tubing with this dark blue stuff...it inhibits some algae growth. You can also see the heater that never turns on, the chiller and fan that never turn off, and the little protein skimmer. the yellow stuff in the cup isn't skimmate, it's epoxy. There was a micro-fracture in the bottom of the cup where the cone meets the rest of the cup, and the action of the microbubbles was enough to reduce the water's surface tension and allow the cup to fill up from the bottom. 1/2 oz of clear resin fixed that right up. I'd say this skimmer is mostly effective. The skimmate it produces isn't really dark, it's like....overly brewed tea. Good enough for me, and MUCH better than the POS airstone driven thing I used to have.

Yikes. I put in an order for those two gorgonia last week, but they didn't ship till today. This isn't really a problem, except I'm going out of town Tuesday night so if the package doesn't get here tomorrow I'll be relying on someone else to dip and acclimate the coral. Not...so...sure about that. Fedex says the estimated delivery is Wednesday, but OTOH they also say the package is already at the destination fedex facility as of tonight, so
I guess we'll see as of tomorrow.

The company I ordered from was really nice about shipping costs, actually. I get the feeling that the aquarium biz is sort of secondary to their charter fishing and diving business....this may be a "side hobby" business for them. I'm really excited to see how the product comes in!

Got the corals fairly early today! I ordered a purple frilly gorgonian, a purple brush gorg, and a blue ric frag. Everything came well-bagged with no leaks. I acclimated them and just got finished adding them to the tank; I'll do final placement later after they've had time to relax a bit..... I want the gorgs to soak up some rays before I go messing with them too much again. I also got a single blue-leg hermit who probably hitched a ride with the gorgonian unnoticed. The more the merrier!

I'll do a full tank shot after I've had a chance to do a 5g water change and clean the sand bed up a bit.

Very nice...will the frilly one eventually get uhhh frilly....LOL

and the bush one get bushy

Brush, not bush. I dunno why. And yes, both of these are photosynthetic and will have white to tan-white polyps. They're closed from the transit...I honestly don't expect to see them open until I get home on Sunday. I leave tomorrow morning for a mini-birthday trip.

Oh yeah today's my birthin' day! So it was a kinda cool thing that the package showed up today....
