0bama says because Republicans wont bite on his class warfare scheme of raising taxes on "rich" people permanently to pay for a 1 year extension of the payroll tax cut WHICH DIDN'T WORK that Republicans want to raise taxes.
Yeah, Billion Dollar Barry gots him a great idea. Lets cut the taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare ever further when both programs are headed for bankruptcy within the next 10 to 15 years the way things are headed now.
Long term tax reform would be the best move right now. The Bush tax cuts expire next year so the taxes have to be dealt with anyway.

cutting payroll tax is dumb. giving tax breaks on payroll tax is dumb as well. this did nothing. these types of actions are just a way to appear to be doing something...while not really doing something.
i am not gonna higher someone if there is no work for a new position...i dont care how many breaks you give....what i may do though is give out a bit more overtime .....

I'm not defending the payroll tax thing. The only thing it might do is force Social Security into insolvency earlier.
However; if the breaks or incentives were a bit higher it is possible that a company might start hiring US workers instead of Chinese or India nationals. What's in place now is insufficient incentive. Businesses are still paid a substancial amount for hiring overseas vs domestic labor.
Forcing business to pay paroll taxes on outsourced positions would make for a bigger incentive. As would reducing tax on profits for hiring US workers.

Good point. Any business tax cut will need to be permanent in order to be effective. I'm ok with that as long as the tax relief is only for hiring US workers. We need to stop rewarding companies for hiring people in India or China.
