Obama now is considering cutting benefits for vets.

Ok and what does this have to do with anything?
I thought the same thing about your link, even explained it further.
I noticed something. Crimzy and you didn't speak out against this, all you said was "bush did it" (which isn't the case). So the defense of this is the guy previous with an approval rating under 30% did it (which he didn't) so it must be a good idea. Seriously? That is your defense?

Darth, Usirchchris, Socal, Ruaround... gentlemen... I challenge each of you to show me a SINGLE post from you criticizing Bush for the same thing. If you can't do it then you are a hypocrit
for coming her to bash Obama for it. My prediction is that you'll each have your excuses but not a single one of you will show me the post.

And the comments, "I hate him", "He's a moron", "His pockets are gettin deeper..." How old are you guys???

I've nailed Bush for his stand on illegal immigration, spending like a drunken sailor, and many other things.
Obama makes Bush look like a fiscal conservative. They're spending something like a billion a day.
Bush got some things right. The war on terror is one. Obama won't even say those words.
Overall Obama is leading to socialism, not toward propserity and liberty.
I held my nose voting for McCain. Then again he was forced on us consevatives by cross voting liberals.

Got new for you all; Obama isn't just considering it, he's already made changes in Veteran health care. I know a veteran who was scheduled for a knee surgery at our local VA, and was told that unless he pays to have it done here (because its being done by a non VA surgeon), he's going to have to travel to another VA (closest one is 4 hours away) to have the surgery performed. This as a result of changes under the new administration.

Very simple even under the HATED Bush Soliders could and did voice their OPION on how they felt. Under OBAMA if they do they are going to be forced out of the service Obama does not want people that think he wants CLONES in the service people that would if needed open fire on US Citizens I am betting on. If a Service member is given the BCD they can not use any of the training they got in the military for anything outside at all. So say you were a Helo pilot in the US Army get a BCD all that is for CRAP.

You are absolutely right, Darth. I am not defending Obama's position. Just because I thought the guy would be better for the country than McCain does not mean that I have to blindly support everything he does. I still believe that the right decision was made on election day. But not necessarily for his economic policies. I think this sucks.
But I have to call out hypocrisy when I see it. If you feel strongly about this issue, (which I agree with), then you have every right to voice your opinion. But the Obama bashing has gotten so silly, especially on this board, that it's difficult to take any of it seriously. The guy cannot even flush the toilet without some clown on this board coming on to criticize how he's not conserving water.

So I guess the bottom line for me is twofold:
(1) As to this issue, I agree with you.
(2) As to the Obama bashing threads in general... stop whining and get a life (not just you Darth).

Just for the record and to be fair and balanced (I live in a FOX world
) Did ANYONE in Obama's administration actually propose this? So far it seems to me this is more of a shot across the bow from Veterans groups because this MAY be proposed by the administration.

I believe I have drastically slowed down my political threads....this one just stuck out at me and of everything anyone can do, one of my two concerns in a President is taking care of our troops and veterans. I hold their needs above all others.
@ReefRaff, this has not been brought to congress yet, but is currently under consideration by the administration.

Wow, we have gone from a republican that didn't take care of our veterans to a dem that is not going to take care of our vets.....

Something just dawned on me....isn't he "socializing medicine"???? Then the soldiers wouldn't need private insurance...

I would love to do just that, but Obama is getting right in the way...have you looked at your 401k or whatever your retirement plan might be?
For the record I have done very little bashing

Well in comparison to what I do outside this board

Stickers on the truck...yell at the radio...all contractors are republicans so talking about it at work is easy

Someone just try to justify this......seriously....this should NOT even be a consideration.
Shows how much he cares about the people that deserve healthcare the most.........
As a veteran who draws a monthly retirement check and disability from the Veteran's Administration, I am very interested in this story. I have searched the web and can not come up with much connecting Obama with any proposed legislation taking away my benefits. Is there a specific link out there?
The only thing I came up with when searching is the Budget options 1 that the Congressional Budget Office recommended in Dec 08. Options 98 is the one that deals with retiree benefits, while options 95, 96 and 97 deal with active duty soldier benefits (mainly Tricare). My understanding is that these options are only recommendations.
Has Obama Ok'd these recommendations or is the administration saying they are considering the CBO's budget options (115 total I believe)?.
Have no doubt that if this administration attempts to pass some sort of legislation that hurts my retirement pay and medical benefits (along with millions of other military members) there would be MUCH more public outcry than this.
Even people that do not draw any military benefits and have never spent a day in the military would be knocking down the doors of the White House.

Something to say with research to back it...interesting concept

I have an active duty USAF MAster Sargent as a brother. His base in SC has recieved the orders of how the troops will react if and WHEN the Democratic Messiah comes to town. He was nto happy with the orders however the punishment for not following them was a Court-martial followed by a Bad Conduct Discharge. He has 6 more Years to go before he is due to retire and he is like I hope I can bite my tounge for the next 4 years if not I am dead.
This statement is completely ludicrious. You are saying that your brother's base
has put out orders that the airmen have to act a specific way if the POTUS comes to town
? And if they say the wrong thing or look the wrong way they will be COURT-MARTIALED????
While in the Army I had the opportunity to be at 2 visits by then President Bush and 1 visit by then president Clinton. I did have to go to a few dress rehearsals and my Chain-of-Command inspected my uniform, but I was never given the "keep your mouth shut or you'll get court-martialed" speech.
.
I guess things are different in the Army.

You do realize the difference between the two is that in the Bush visit the Marines were "at ease" (able to talk and move their body), while in the Obama's visit the Marines were at the position of "attention" (head and eye straight too the front, no talking, stand still...) correct?

even though i do think that most of the things in our government budgets needs to be cut back on, benefits for vets is one that shouldn't be, just like funding for schools, roads, police, and fireman.

Please show me what legislation passed since Obama has been POTUS that has effected veteran's health care. I am not being rude, but I need to know, as I have a few appointments coming up next month at the VA, and I would hate to be stuck with a bill that I wasn't expecting to pay.
In the case of your friend it sound like he wanted to have his surgery done by his own surgeon. Does your local VA not have a surgeon that works for the hospital that can perform the surgery?
