I include him, though obviously to a much smaller extent than his successor.
Had he ignored the UN, put a large enough US force on the ground in Saudi, told our Arab "allies" they were either for us or against us, and drove straight into Baghdad in 1990 the Iraqi Democracy would be 18 years now...

Yes, the first socialist to win the primary. Sen Obama's own words mark him as a socialist.

It would have been significant if Clinton won, because she is a woman... but I believe it is more significant because a racial minority has won....there has at least been a woman as a VP on a ticket..

The Republicans pushed it through over the objections of Al Gore Sr and other DEMOCRATS

You could also argue that a good # of people voted for McCain because he is a white male...and people who voted for Clinton because she is a woman and white... There are also people who voted against Obama because of his heritage and he is black. So lets cancels those out because it exists on all sides..
I would argue that being black has been a bigger hurdle because this is precedented moment... Keep in mind that he has had Secret Service protecting him for this whole election cycle.
Yup, alls us clingin' to our guns n religion n such really not gonna vote for heem.
Obama's changing his tune about "unconditional" talks with Iran. Of course he was speaking to a Jewish group at the time.
Change.... to fit the group you are pandering to.
I'd make a better President than Sen Obama.

and there's no comparison imo between Obama and Jackie Robinson. no offense to Mr Robinson, but he was a baseball player, not trying to be leader of the free world.
but if you do want to make that comparison......Jackie Robinson got into the league and then proved himself to be a HOF player. if he's batted .200 with 2 HRs, not much would've been made of it. so if you really want to want to make the comparison, then you should wait until Obama actually becomes president and does something good with it. because if he gets there and becomes Jimmy Carter part 2, then being "the first black president" isn't going to amount to a hill of beans.
Well this is my contention. It really isn't bad, so if we elect the moron as prez, then suddenly the sun will come out and the rainbow will shine. Well at least in the eyes of the media. And all the brain washed robots who can't think for themselves. (you know those people who think we are in a recession) will suddenly find themselves in a utopia once again. Until they bring the misery index back.

no, because when Obama falls flat on his face as prez, which I think that he will, it'll all be because of 8 years of Bush, not anything that Obama did or didn't do. he's already shown that he's teflon and above reproach. and if you try to bring up any valid point against him, it's because you must be racist and don't want a black president. when John McCain is the best choice for president, we're in bad shape as a country.

I don't have a problem with a black president, but I do not want a racist black president. No more would I want a racist white president. Obama is pretty careful with his words; he's a good speaker. But have you heard his wife and preacher talk? I mean, if my wife was racist and I attended a church that had incredibly racist sermons, what would you assume about me?

And blame bush crowd strikes again.
Actually you are more right than I'd like to admit, sadly bush had the stars aligned and didn't get the job done. And now we are here. With a republican candidate that almost changed parties, and a 3 year senator. Seriously.

What again has he accomplished? Besides getting nominated to be president. And yes he is a moron, have you listened to what he said. Anyone who thinks that bigger government, higher taxes, and socialization of major industries is the way to go, is a moron.

Because for the last umpteen years we hear "equal, equal equal", so finally a lot of America thinks blacks and whites are equal. Equal enough to look past skin color to cast a vote anyway. But now all of a sudden black are not equal! Now all of a sudden here comes this man from oppression and has clawed his way to the top and OMG, he's the first of his race to do that.
Please. Big deal he's black. Or half black. Now as an opener for supporting him, his "fans" can put you in a lose/ lose. You either support him, or your racist! What'll it be?
He made it, I'm happy for him. I don't get into politics much cause you either have to research both sides, or none at all. Because IMO to know all there is to know about one party is ignorant. To know and understand both is intelligent.
I will not spew little facts or opinions because quite frankly, I don't know any.
He made it. woop de do.
He will get votes because he's black.
He will get votes because he's democrat.
He will get votes cause people think they want change.
McCain will get votes cause he's white.
He'll get them cause he's republican.
And he'll get them because a lot of people don't see change as progress.

*He voted the most liberally
*He's actively promoting a Socialist agenda

Sadly, he has set himself apart in many ways...

So "windfall" taxes are worse than Bushes attempt to boost the economy with his tax rebate? So far, it doesn't appear to be helping. Everyone is either hoarding the money, or paying all their bills they've accumulated trying to stay above high food and gas prices.
And meeting with our enemies instead of just trying to annihilate them is a bad thing? Oh that's right. The USA isn't known as a pacifist country. Gotta show who the boss is. That's why every other country in the world despises us.
Give me a break. He's already debunked that ridiculous rumor about the terrorist. Just foder for the McCain backers.
What's wrong with voting liberally (unless you're an ultra-conservative).
If wanting a national healthcare system is socialist, then give me a better alternative. Medical and pharmacutical costs have tripled over the last 5 years, and there's no sign they will decrease. The Baby Boomers like me won't be able to even go to the doctor on the illustrious Medicare/Medicaid Plan by the time we need it because the funding will be gone just like Social Security.
Actually he wants to strengthen our military by bringing it back where it belongs, to American soil. The War Mongers just want to make it look like the old 'Cut and Run' routine W's daddy did in the first Gulf War.

Rylan, you don't think the world should see things in terms of race, right? then why should this be "lauded" as "significant"?? is he running for president as a black man or as a politician?? he's not the first politician that's won a nomination.

The medical bills will still hafta get paid. A national healthcare system simply means we all pay for it whether we need it or not via taxes. Another lose/lose. I want free healthcare, but OMG nobody TOLD me they were gonna take more outa my check!
If national healthcare is what you want, remember ALL the people without a job who also are entitled to the same priveledge! Somebody has to pay for that!
Same with education grants. Charlotte had up a million "Say yes to education" signs. So, they said yes, then got all riled up when their state taxes went up.

Yes, actually they are. A careful look at the oil crisis during the Carter administration will reveal to ya just how bad windfall taxes were for us as a Nation. When you punish the oil companies for selling oil here they move.... that leads to less oil reserve here. It happened under Carter and it will happen under Obama.

Meeting, unconditionally
, with our enemies of course is a bad thing. Look at Chamberlain's productive meeting with Hitler, Roosevelt's and Truman's meetings with Stalin, etc.
Sorry. The rest of the world doesn't despise us. Don't by that hype.

Please show me where he debunked working with the Weather Underground founder..... Considering it is public knowledge that will be an entertaining tidbit.

Privatization is better than socialization. Baby boomers like my parents simply need to plan and budget health care into their retirements. To expect the Government to provide a public service like Health Care is absurd.

Obama's plans for the military are on his webpage. Feel free to read up for it yourself. If you think cutting the budget for R&D will strengthen the military I highly suggest you study warfare and the history of our military.

Because todays "liberal" is a Marxist. The "collective" (Karl Obama's own words) is unconstitutional. Federal healthcare is unconstitutional ( see 10th Ammendment). You want the people ( on both sides) who spent Medicare into bankrptcy controlling health care?
Why are liberty and capitalism so bad? Liberty and capitalism made us the most powerful and advanced nation on the planet.
