unfortunately, with seahorses, you cant cut back on feeding. They must be fed at least twice a day. some feed three.
you can try adding chemi-pure elite to your filter system.

Teresa, you have the same exact tank I do...what skimmer do you use? Obviously you of all people know space is limited....You also know that a sump/fuge (unless on the outside) really isn't possible either with this tank
I might be looking for a new skimmer

How do I rinse off tiny little shrimp food???
Very Carefully...
...like someone said before you need a small net (or something similar) But it has to be very small or you'll lose some shrimp....just run it under water and yayyyy they are rinsed

A net!! I didn't think of that

Thank you. My phiosphates are finally down to 0.5, Mine were way up there too. Although not for the reasons yours is, since you rinse.
I dosed my tank with phosphate remover and did weekly water changes when I used to do monthly. I think te water changes did more than the phosphate remover stuff.

Probably a combination..but it's good to keep up regular w/c's

WOW...OK...thanks...Right now the foam sleeve seems to be working to stop the bubbles...BUT I think it is time to shop since I can not figure out what is causing the bubbles in the 1st place...
SOOOO if anyone has any suggestions on a good (moderate pricing) skimmer for a corner 54g (limited space) I'd appreciate the input....

OK...w/c is done...phos pads added yesterday...how long shoud I wait before I retest water? Or does that matter?

The non expert here says, I always wait a day. That gives a chance for everything to settle and the pads to work.

meowzer, did the bubble start before or after oyu added the phos pad??
It may be the chemicals in the pad causing your skimmer to go crazy
here is the filter i am looking at for my tank. I have have been told the skimmer is not the very best, but it works. Since I have no skimmer, something is better then nothing.
I have very little room for any kind of hang on since I have a canopy on my tank

That's different looking...yeah any skimmer is better than none
I had noticed a tiny bit of micro bubbles before the pads, and I took the skimmer out yesterday and totally cleaned it...when I put it back there were more bubbles, and no matter what I did I could not get them to stop..

Just to make a clarification, do not use chemi-pure elite with seahorses. Use only the regular chemi-pure. Unless it has been changed in the last year, the "elite" contains an irritant to the seahorses gills and is not advisable for seahorse tanks.

Teresa.... PM me for more info if you wish as no links are allowed ;)

see I learn something new everyday. I just read the article tom told me about. Even the manufacturer says not to use the Elite with Seahorses. Maybe they should add that to their label
