Do you have any clue how long before it attaches????

Wow it has been awhile...and my clam was like 4 inches...it couldn't have been more than a few days. It probibly depends on how stressed it is.

Nice. You can put some other pcs. of rock around it to circle it in. They can and do move on their own. Should't take but a day to as soon as a few hours before it starts to attach itself if it likes where it is.

Thanks..lol..I actually have done that...just in case it were to get knocked over it could not fall anywhere...My husband was also "kind" enough to stick his hand in there and pull some more algae out for me

I was going to put it in the back, but he also talked me into this spot in the front of the tank....it is opening pretty nicely. This is my first, so I was not sure what it would do. I have Marine Snow, Phyto-S, Phyto-M, and Zooplex...do you think I should wait a couple of days before I try to put some by it????

I would wait to let it settle in a bit. When you do feed it use an eye dropper or turkey baster and just release the food in the flow ahead of it so the food flows to it. Not sure how turbulent your flow is in the tank but you might want to turn things off so there is little flow to give the food some hang time around it.

Here thought this was interesting too.
"Placing your T. maxima in your tank is pretty much the same as placing your T. crocea. Pay attention to the color of the clam's mantle and use that as your judge for where your clam should go. Some T. maxima's will show vivid coloration and others will be showing off the brown color of their zooxanthellae. If your clam's color is iridescent, it has adapted to bright lighting and should be placed closer to the top of your tank. If your clam is mainly brown, it should be placed lower in your tank away from strong lighting. If you have a healthy specimen, it will attach itself to the substrate in less than a day. Keep this in mind when placing your clam in the tank. Make sure you put it where you want it to stay."

LOL...that's one of the articles I read today...that's whay I wanted to be careful where I put it, but also was curious based on others experiences on how long it really took to attach...
Mine is looking kinda purply brownish...it is not irradescent ( as far as I can see)
I have it in the lower third of the tank...but I have it in the 225 with the 250W MH's

Thanks guys...and Flower

It is still in the same spot
...I kinda have stuff around it so it can't be swam into, only over or around...When I get home tonight should I check to see if it is attached, or just leave the barracade for a couple of days????
