It really does look good...persistance is usually rewarded and you've been very dedicated to making this happen. I hope it pulls some really nasty stuff for you soon.

well...so far nothing else is leaking...(me knocking on wood lol) Hopefully we got all the little leakers....(knocking on more wood)
IDK how long the break in period is, but I will be watching it closely for a while....
OH, I decided to feed the skimmer with my Mag 7.....we bought a flow valve, and have it inline, so I could turn it down if I need to....Home Depot did not sell a flow meter..LOL....oh well...we will just use our judgement on this one I guess

Very good Meowzer......I think 2-3 days you should have it rockin.........If your curious, you can do search for Toms inline flow meters, they are pretty inexpensive, or you can check out Custom Aquatics, Champion Lighting, Premium Aquatics or Marine Depot.....I can't quite remember I buy so much crap, I forget after awhile.....I think I bought it from AquaticEco.....they are calibrated for the line size your running, and were alittle expensive......But you don't have to put a flow meter inline, you can tune it by eye....
Here is a pic of the flow meters I use though.....

The instructions should say about how to adjust the water height.....If you can take a good full skimmer shot and post it and we can do it......Now that's a skimmer!!!!!

Meowzer.....the adjustment on the water height inside the skimmer body would be done by either an adjustment on the output or is there a valve that closes and opens for the air adjustment?

Instructions....LOL....or the lack of.....they tell you NOTHING about the operation of this skimmer....I was laughing cause the only skimmer I ever had tghat actually told you how to adjust it...was the SEACONE AHAHAHAHAH
ANYWAYS....here is a pic....the tall gray pipe in the back (with silencer on top) spins....that determines the water height in the skimmer.. The "flow valve" is in the line that feeds the skimmer and the mag 7 is obviously in the sump The flow valve is open all the way right now....IDK if I should turn it down or not

Attachment 244237
I have not adjusted it yet...it seemed happy
I just cleaned the cup haha....The problem I have now is...too WET.....How do I get the foam dryer????

I would honestly think the adjustment would be made on the output pipe of the skimmer......Have your tried turning your feed pump back just a hair, and see what affect that has on the skimmer? Just a hair.....Why are you looking for dry foam?

The long gray tube in the pic adjusts the water height in the skimmer......I have not adjusted the feed pump yet.....I will try that this morning..
It's not that I want dryer foam....I want less "water" in the cup....does that make sense????? I thought that's how it's supposed to be

Depends....some people prefer to skim wet vs. dry......The skimmer CAT 2 should only be fed 300-400gph, so if your running the feed pump wide open your definitely feeding to much water.....I'd cut it back in small increments.....the water level should be just to the start of the cone.......
I'm curious....your return out of the skimmer come out and goes up into a "T", and you have the pipe back to the sump and the pipe that holds the air silencer???? See if that pipe that the air silencer is attached to slides up and down....That is were I'm thinking the adjustment is.....

YUP...I knew the mag 7 was too much...that's why we bought the flow valve :) I just had not made any adjustments to it yet...I just did though...Do you think I should turn it down more now, or wait a little while????
Do they have a flow meter that will work with vinyl tubing??? That is how we are running the mag7 to the skimmer....I think you can see that in the picture...of course my husband says he could add some 1" pvc to this...lol
The tall gray tube does come out....BUT....you actually turn it to make water adjustments...right now the water level is at the bottom (or first) black ring.....in the pic it looks fuller cause you are seeing the foam

I would let it run with the adjustments you just made, and let it run a couple hours and see where your at.....My next adjustment would be from the feed side....Meaning slow the feed pump down.....Where's the pics of what you've collected so far???? We need pics!!!!!!

I cleaned it out last night...LOL....I was afraid it would fill up too much when I went to bed....when I get use to it....I'll be a bit more comfortable....It does have a drain, but I have it plugged right now.....I may add a milk jug or something eventually....
AND YES...The only adjustments I am making now are to the skimmer feed.....So far I see no difference....I know there has to be one..lol...just not noticing anything....
P.S. CLEAN OUT YOUR PM BOX

OK....My flow into the skimmer should be about 350gph....of course this is only a guesstimate....because...I have the flow valve set in the center....common sense would make you believe that it would be 350gph then LOL
I stopped the air to get a good skimmer water level position...had to adjust the gray pipe (water adjuster) and all seems to be well
I'm keeping the skimmer water level at the first black band....
I'm watching it closely....(tomorrow it's back to work :( but hubby will be home ) I will checkthe water level in the skimmer in about an hour.....From what I have seen so far though.....it should stay where we set it
