our clownfish wont eat!

hey all.. we have 2 new false percs and are very new to the salt water hobby.. we've tried flake, pellet and frozen mysis.. and our little clown doesnt seem to be interested.. Any suggestions?
Our tank is 48 gal.. with one chromis, two clownfish and one bengai cardinal.

Wait a week and then try feeding them again. Ocellaris Clownfish are a very territorial fish so when they are moved from tank to tank they get very upset and may not eat for a while.

ah my bad... our Ocellaris Clownfish lol told ya we were new.

Relax, ours did not eat for about a week and now eat like crazy! BUT they never took to pellet or flakes and prefer live food (like baby brine shrimp). I'm not a huge fan of pellet or flakes.

Hi, Welcome to SWF!
Just to rule out other issues, because you say you are new - the tank is cycled and the ammonia, nitrite, etc are good, right? If it is a new tank, like a week, then there is another probable issue

Thanks! we just assumed that if they werent eating.. they'd just die. we've had a few casualties this week.. for reasons i cant explain.. our first clown didnt even last 12 hours!
what sg and temp do you usually keep your tank at ? ours right now is at 79 degrees and sg is 1.022
The information i read.. the ranges are so wide.

oh, sorry yes.. just new to the hobby
our tank is now fully cycled.. all our levels are good.. we have all our live rock in situ. just now starting to bring in some fish

peoples ranges for SG and temp greatly, my sg is 1.025 and my tamp is usally around 74,,no higher than 76 for my fish...

Hi, welcome to SWF! I had the same problem as you did when I got 2 new clowns. First they were not interested. Then they started taking food into their mouth and spitting it back out. After about a week they went nuts and started eating like crazy. Now every time I put the turkey baster into the tank they jump and take the food right out before I even get a chance to really put it into the tank. I also tried tons of different foods wondering why they would not eat.

Sometimes it helps to ask the place you bought it from what they had been feeding them. Some places only feed blood worms or flakes, etc. Or a particular food exclusively,No variety at all are given sometimes.

I am failry new too, but we have two clowns. I feed them live baby brine shrimp about once a week and Coral and Reef # 1 Its frozen I keep it in some water in the fridge and break some off to feed them. They eat out of my hands
But as suggested b4 asking your LPS is a great Idea thats what I did and he told me to feed them what I have been feeding them. Mine never went through the 'not eating' they did spit it back out but always sampled. good luck Ohhh and mine eat red algae sheets too! I keep them in the tank for our bi-colored blenny and they come up and and nibble on it too.

i think they have ich. am noticing little white spots on their bodies

Hi i just got 2clown fish and i tryed flake food and they put it in there mouth and spit it back out its only been 5days since i got them should i worry? One died already after the 2nd day. I dont know becouse the wont eat or what? help

You just brought back a 3 year old thread. Start your own thread if you wish... or just read up on it more. Look through old threads... welcome to the site.

WELCOME to SWF....Try better foods....like frozen mysis, marine cuisine...flake is really no good anyway...compare it to a potato chip
