beth may need to answer the hole in the head thingy, maby put up a thread in the desise forum, but it might be HLLE wich is due to diet and environment

who is beth? sorry we're new to this website....the "hole" in the head has been there approximately one month. we thought it was because he had a growth spurt and just didn't notice it before??????

beth is a moderator and very helpfull when it comes to disease HLLE is head and lateral line erosion, as in erodes away at the flesh and is due to poor health and can be something to do with electrical stuff under your tank, but as i said post a thread in the disease forum with the pic.

would you like me to lie and say that 3 tangs in a "55" gallon tank would be fine?

Yep, that is HLLE. What do you currently feed your livestock and how often? What are the water parameters?
That tank does look like a nano and not a 55g tank. What brand is it?

we have established that it really isnt great to put 3 tangs in a 55, im not on anyones side but we do hope that you upgrade in the next couple of weeks to a larger tank. but i am afraid that the hole in the head thing may have something to do with the tank being so small, and the fish getting stressed

i noticed that there isnt anything in the way if algae or coraline in the tank, tangs love to grase, what do you feed them

we are feeding a mix of frozens...mysis, brine, emerald crab, macro algae, mussel, spirula, reef plankton
once or twice a week we put in dry strips of red or green algae
our tank is a 55 gallon made by some japanese company aquavim
our sump has a refugum (sp), nano balls, protein skimmer, pads for phosphate and filtration, powerhead wave maker in tank
