our tang family

lol thanks deejeff....it was our normal guy's day off

we had never bought from the salesman who sold us the two tangs to add to our one tang and we won't be going near him again....
right now we exchanged the kole tang for some supplements to vary my sailfin's diet and hopefully get rid of the hlle...any advice would be appreciated!

the tangs should eat most of thier diet on greens.very important feed then daily on a clip.my foxface and purple go nuts when i put in in.
seeing your fish are small and the water stays good quality.
i started with a 45 gallon and had a tang a clown and a couple others .
they never had a health problen.but i bought them small and i did plan on upsizing.i went to a 90 gallon once the tang was 2-3 inches and now i have a 150 and looking at maybe a 220.make sure there are plany of hiding spaces and do weekly water changes.good to start small i think .saltwater keeping is very nerveracking.see if you like the sport.learn ,read, and ask alot of questions.you will get alot of different approaches on setup, filter systems, lighting etc...there are alot of set up combos.dont get overwhelmed.
give the tank a month or so see if you dont mind the maintanance.then seriously look int as big of a tank you can afford and have room for.i wouldnt suggest a novice jump into a 220 gallon.
look around for a used set up there are alot of people that throw in the towel on this sport and sell thier tanks cheap.i found a 220 gallon for $400.
i have had swf for over 15 years maybe longer and i still ask alot of question when i want to change something even if i think i already know the answers.
i think this forum is a better source than a lfs.unbiased opinions here.
good luck

I'd seriously recommend upgrading to a long tank instead of investing into a new top. Your Tangs will not benefit from the top at all. Tangs need room to swim no matter how small they are. A cube shape like what you have has very little room for them.
Also please have the algae clip in the tank every single day with algae sheets on it. With no visible algae on the rocks to graze, they need the supplemental sheets on daily basis.
I have 2 Tangs in our 150 and 2 clips of nori every single day even though the LR has tons of natural algae.
+1 i have clip out each day and it's gone by the time i come back from work so i replace it.. i wake up next morning like now and its gone so it's time to replace again lol.
i too have natural algae but they seem to like the clip better these days i also have 2 tangs in my tank 1x Flame Fin Tomini Tang and a yellow Tang.
heres my tank sizes:
length is 201cm long 50cm wide and 75cm tall
hreres my link https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/333662/fnaaly-deans-tank-diary
i recomend you get a tank of this size Vittoria8110 for the tangs you have and the ammount.
also i do agree with Vittoria8110 theres starting to become a lot of rudess latly maybe everyone has pms as of late
but in serious peeps do need to be nicer as the person did come and ask in time and we are here to help not push away,
also i did find this funny:
the pictures are zoomed in..OBVIOUSLY
do you need DNA, blood, or social security for proof?
cacked me up and i say yes wheres the dna!!!
lol

but all in all i would buy a tank like mine or close enough.

thanks for your comments dse, i appreciate your advice and my husband has already begin his research mode for a new tank! i will adhere to the advice given. I've already gone out to get selcon, spectrum pellets, and vitachem to add to my sailfin's diet. I will post comparision pics in a week or so to see if he's doing better. AND I WILL PROVIDE DAILY ALGAE STRIPS...LESSONS LEARNED FOLKS!

goodbye purple tang....goodbye...went back to lfs, hopefully to find a bigger home

we kept our sailfin....spoke to the lfs and they said that when we're ready, they'll put him in their massive coral tank
so now our we're looking for something that will work as a great sandsifter. we have a diamond goby, but all he does is sit and wait for feeding time. We've had him 6 months and haven't seen him sift sand once!!!! any recommendations?
only other "sand dwellers" in our tank are:
2 conch
3 emeralds (only stay on rock!)
2 camel shrimp (only stay on rock)
*all the above have been in the tank app 3-4 months
app 12 snails (mexican and turban)
What we'd love.... a starfish, another goby, or a cucumber. Please advise, so that we can begin our research.
