Hey I AM a girl and I out grew my 250 fast, lol.
It was my "lay down" bike. Once I got the first lay down outa the way, I went out and got a 600. Then when the throttle fell asleep, I went out and got a 750. I never could out do that bike though. Don't get me wrong, I could "handle" the liters and even the hubby's zx14, but I could never get them anywhere near their potential, I tried with the 750, but it continued to kick my butt! Lol!
You wrecked a 250 so you bought a faster bike? this makes zero sense. The throttle on a 600 will never fall asleep. You fall asleep. When you can go flying into a 40 mph turn at 70 and without even thinking about it for one second down shift two gears while match revving it while applying the brakes leaning over then cracking the throttle mid corner all while keeping the bike revved so the power is there let me know. A 600 ridden aggressive will never dip under 11,000 rpms. They are by far the most fun bikes to ride.
Anybody can handle a zx-14 or 1000. It will only go as fast as you make it go. The issue with the 1000s and the bigger bikes it will go from 0-100 in 3 seconds while a 600 will take 6. That same street you normally hit 75 on then hitting the brakes on a 600 you now come in doing 120. Thats why people die. The speed. They cant control it. They dont expect the bike to be carrying that much difference in speed. They freak out and bail or wreck.
Also a 600 wont go much faster than 150. If anybody tells you they did 170 on a stock or piped and geared 600 they are full of crap plus they are a moron for going that fast. A stock 1000 will do 186 which is what they are limited too. Hell My busa will do 186 in 5th gear and I have another gear to upshift too.

Most commonly... Not everybody, but most people, will lay down their first bike. It'd be stupid to buy a nice expensive bike for this. I never said I "crashed" it, I said I laid it down... I tried to take hard right, going WAY to fast, on a backroad with sand and gravel and such. It was 1:30 in the morning on a road I've never been on (I was following somebody), so I didn't know about the sand...
It was a mild low side. The bike still ran fine, just looked bad.
With the 600, and I've had 2, I wanted quicker get up and go... I have short stints of road where I can really do what ever I wanted, so I wanted to do it fast.
Turns, sure, a 600 can kick my butt in the turns, but that was no diff than a 750-. So for the straightaways, one specifically, I upgraded.
I know what I can handle, I know how to ride, I never laid down either of my 600's, OR my 750. Didn't even lay down the 14 that I could barely touch the ground on and hated riding!

how does the person in front not wreck cause of the sand but you did? You can hide behind any excuse you want. Again anybody can ride anything in a straight line at 50 mph and say I can ride a zx-14 or hayabusa. The point is that 250 was over your head. That bike can be ridden and knees being dragged at rack tracks. That bike was built for turns. Goo dluck with the 600. But your ego is getting the better of you as well.

OK, I guess I hafta go into details and push the parameters of your narrow mind...
The guy "in front" of me, was about a half mile up, I didn't even know he turned until it was to late... The guy in front of me, was an incredibly experienced rider who, at the time had all the metal ground off his footpegs, while this was...did I mention? My FIRST BIKE!!!
The 250 was the bike I learned to ride on...16 years ago! There, now how interesting were all THOSE details?

If I wanted to "hide behind" an excuse, I'd point out that I learned to ride (at that time) old school where..."You don't even NEED to use the back breaks.", Or maybe that I had been riding probably all of 2 or 3 months when that happened.
And, no kidding that anybody can ride a 14 or a busa in a straight line... That's about all you can do with those bikes. Unless, your a professional rider. And I never claimed to be, but even if I were, I wouldn't put anything over a liter into those turns...
And thanks for wishing me luck on the 600, but if you read my entire post, you will have noticed that I sold BOTH of my 600's...
Not sure about the ego part either... Maybe you should quote where I sounded like I have one so were both on the same page...

A 250 for a average sized woman vs an averaged size man is totally different. An averaged sized male is going to be bigger and stronger and weigh more. In the world of bikes weight plays a key factor in everything from acceleration to braking to handling. The bike will struggle with a man on it. I ride her bike and it struggles with me. A 250 will teach the basics of riding as will a 650 twin like a sv650 which is probably the best bike in the world for starting out on IMO.
And my mind is far from narrow. You come in a thread lay down few details. Your reponse sounded like a current timeline in a few year period. I went off what you wrote. I know nothing about how old you are or when you purchased each bike. Im so glad you could keep the conversation mature what are we 12? Name calling. Pat yourself on the back. I made my response with the information at hand. How is that narrow minded?

Your right, you only had a few details...because the purpose of that post was to simply agree with your opinion of the 250.
Maybe I gave TO MANY details as support for my opinion.
You based your response with the information at hand??

Again, my post was to agree with your, not turn the discussion into my entire riding experience, literally from the start!
There's still a whole lot I'm leaving out, as it has never been relevant.
Calling you narrow minded was not an insult, it was an observation, but since you already took it as an insult I don't expect you to see my perspective. All the comments and questions that I quoted you on, above, tell me that you were having a completely different conversation than I was. Leaving yourself unable to see, that my original post was... actually nice.

Yep. If u put on an aftermarket exhuast that mod doesnt mean anything. it is a valve inside the factory exhaust that opens and closes. when u install aftermarket exhaust it is disabled.
