once again i got a question. and i dont need a lecture from anyone just a simple yes or no. im broke plane and simple. i dont have money for RO water. would it be horrible for me to use regular water with the treatment? in 2 weeks i will be taking the tank home with me (decided to bring the whole thing and not buy a 5 gallon tank). when i take it home i will get a couple of good water changes in and also im gunna do a water change next week. so in the next 3 weeks i will do 3 water changes. i have 5 snails and one rock of about 70 yellow star pollyps. im not sure what else i can do at this point i need to manage my money better. so can i ue the regular water for one week? for top offs only and next week i will do a good water change
a speedy response is greatly appreciated! thanks all for your time!

I cant answer 100% because I dont know what your tap water contains. In most cases your adding phosphates to your water, bad yes but if you know why and can eliminate it then any issues that may come of it will go away. If there is anything else in your water that wont be nullified from the treatment then it may hurt your inhabitants. My concern would be copper but im sure there are other things. Other than that i dont see why using tap to do top offs for a week will really hurt anything beyond repair. JMO. Good Luck.

I find this a tad contradictory, "his tank is ok", He does get a lot of algae" ?
IMO you are always taking a chance introducing tap water in the system.

yea you should be fine. if you could distilleed water would be best, its like $1.00 per gallon. i dont know if you could get it but its alot better then tap. you can do what i used to do, go to wallmart and pay for it in change.it was like a $1.08 and i paid in all quaters & a dime. laidy always looked at me weird. it was funny

"he gets alot of algee" he cleans it alot so im his mind its ok. he doesnt have anything better to do so cleaning isnt a problem for him. i dont know if patrick wants to clean it if his snails cannot keep up with it. he also gets alot of light on his tank so that might be the main factor of his algee problem. he gets light from 5:30 am- 10:15pm so like 17 hours of light daily. his CUC is only hermits so they dont get the glass to well.
