Nice tank and fish choices!
Fishwanabe, airstones are usually frowned on in sw tanks beacause they can cause popeye. Microbubbles from an airstone can get in behind a fishes eyesocket and cause it. It's easily treatable if your fish ever get it.

why not add powerheads instead of airstone? powerhead with currrents will make fish even more active, since they will hv to swim against currents. this is a form of exercise for them and is good for their health.

I honestly never heard of popeye being caused by airstones. I will keep a close eye even more now to make sure this doesn't happen.
I don't like powerheads for some reason. They get clogged sometimes, can even suck a fish in if they are weak and can produce too much current for the fishes in my opinion. In coral tanks they are an invaluable addition but I am not convinced that they are as important in fish only tanks like mine. However, I will have to consider them anyway because of the advise mentioned above regarding popeye.
And as mentioned also above, Broomtails are said to max out at 20 inches. Of course, they would look even longer with the tail filaments fully developed.
Thanks to all for the nice words especially regarding the Broomtail male. It is indeed a show-quality specimen like the ones for public aquariums so I feel lucky to have gotten him from my LFS.Hopefully he will do quite well for me and I can keep posting pics of him.

I sit in front of my reef tank now just staring at a piece of coral that isnt doing anything,im afraid of what might happen if i had your tank in my liveingroom.

Awsome group.
The eel looks like a pussycat next to that broomtail. Like he's saying,"Hey Spike, what do you want to do Spike? Go stomp some cats?? Huh, huh, ......"??

Thanks guys. It took me a while to put the whole collection together but I am very happy with it. I am hoping that they can grow as much as possible in there in the years to come.

It really isn't airstones that can cause popeye disease. It is micro bubbles of any kind. I don't believe this is a fact though, I think it is more of a theory. As far as your airstone goes though, I don't think it will hurt anything. (But why chance it) right. You do have some really incredible fish. How much LR is that? I couldn't imagine having to buy enough LR for a 300gl. lol.
Nice tank.

Nice tank.
So far so good with the airstones but if I do see any problems I will be taking them out. At the monment they seem to be helping a lot. As far as the live rock, there are 350 lbs in there and maybe several more pieces to be added in the future to make more caves.
Brandon7491, I have been wrong millions of times, but I never make comments or suggestions as statements when I am not sure. That was your mistake and why I posted the way I did. I do hope I didn't ruin your life and please don't consider suicide because of my post. You have a lot more to live for than fish boards.

LOL the fish look tiny in the FTS...LOL...great pics and Excelent stock list...the only problem that i could see in the future yould be the clown trigger...but it looks like you are on top of things...i wish you good luck with the clown trigger...

I agree that the Clown Trigger could be the possible problem in the future and will definitely have to keep a close eye on it. That was part of the reason I got a small one in hopes he gets "used" to the tankmates but I fully know that they can go bonkers at any time. Hopefully I will get lucky and all stays calm.

I dunno, all those fish can pack a punch. (don't know much about the broom tale but if they are anywear near as mean as other wrasses) And he has plenty of room, that helps alot with mean fish. You should consider getting a puffer, a black dogface would be sooo cool in that tank.

The one fish I have been playing with the idea of adding is a large Red Sea Blue Bird Wrasse. Not sure how it would work with the Broomtail as wrasses can be a bit intolerant of each other but if the Bird wrasse is big enough, I think it should be ok.
I have never had experience with puffers but they seem to be always chomping on rocks and stuff and I would hate to have that problem in my tank.
