FANTASTIC!!! LET'S HAVE A GROUP HUG AND SING F KUMBAYA!
Thank you all for so much useless sh't - you all are absolutely great and knowledgeable - you all deserve a gold star.
I have not done a thing with my tank without consulting with people on the forums in THIS SITE!!!
My fish coexisted peacefully for half a year until I got this crab and 3 went one after another....
1GuyDude - thank you - I will research the fish selection you mentioned as that's exactly what I wanted to hear - suggestions and advice.
I was just following along....Then today I read your tirade. It was uncalled for, and folks were trying to help..nobody spoke mean to you and nobody said a cross word. You got suggestions and advice from each and every one who posted an answer. 1GuyDude gave you some suggestions on better suited fish..advice yoyu didn't ask for by the way. You asked what killed your fish and for help. 1GuyDude and everyone else told why your fish died..and it's not the little hermit. Shame on you and you owe them all an apology.
What I think happened is the same as everyone already said....The little fish were growing for half a year, the added one critter and every fish got into it...then came the inevitable clash.
The hermit crab is harmless. a hex tank is not like a regular tank. It is a tube for lack of a better word. It's not the footprint but the air at the top that makes them a bad choice for a "fish" tank. The gas exchange just isn't enough for the depth. This makes it a nice seahorse tank but a bad choice for anything else. Almost all saltwater fish are mean and territorial and in a small cramped area they go for blood. Everyone told you that....Trotsky123 why not go for seahorses and soft easy coral? If you went for a dragon wrasse you obviously like the unusual.
