I started an arrest once, on a 15 yr old black female, at a bus stop with about 30 other blacks looking on. She spun on me, then b*tch slapped me right across the face (she knew about the onlookers). Many of the onlookers started cheering her on. It stunned me for a sec. (surprised rather), then she ate the black pebbles out of the asphalt we were standing on. I handcuffed her, then quickly looked up thinking one of two things...1)I'm going to be mobbed, or 2)They may not come jump on me, but there's going to be a riot. To my shock, everyone started cheering (for me).
I collected two of her front teeth, put them in her pocket, and proceeded with the arrest.

A buddy of mine had a similar experience making an arrest near the reservation. Indian guy was saying he was federal and couldn't be arrested with all his friends in the bar cheering him on. My buddy pulled out his night stick and informed him that as a deputy sherrif he could arrest anyone in that county. All the guys friends decided this guy wasn't such a good friend cause they backed away once the stick came out. Arrest made with no issues. Funny how once it comes down to time to dance most people decide to sit this one out.
