WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

Rslinger and anyone else that thinks OBAMA is going to SAVE this Nation take one look at COOK COUNTY in IL call a Realtor there and ask what the Property taxes are on a 200K house Here is a clue around 10K a year. In my town 90 Miles away with Better Schools we would pay 2K a year on that same house and get 4 times the Square footage. Also the City and COunty Income tax is a combined 7% Sales tax is 10.5 % Cigarette tax is 4 bucks a pack OVER WHAT THE FEDS CHARGE all this gets you the worst standard of living in the state put it to your this way Detroit is close in Standard of Living.

how can you blame Obama for everything thats wrong with cook county. and yes i know where he is from. to start with it cost more for house in big cities everywhere. land and houses are worth more because more people want to live in the city and space is less avaible. schools are bad because first they have a lot more students next cook county includes some pretty crime driven areas of the chi. there are areas of cook county that are in bad poverty. i have seen the camps homeless people have made around little cicero. i have never lived in chicago but dont live that far from there and have been there countless times. the police force is dirty. there are lots of other problems here that were defintly not caused by our president.

How do you think having private insurance companies pay for service connected disabilities is doing a good job? Okay two people apply for a job. One is a retired veteran with an above right knee amputation suffered from enemy artillery fire in Iraq in the first Gulf War. The other is a person who has not served in the military and is 100% healthy. Both have no experience in the job they are applying for, but they are the only two that applied. They are both around the same age and the veterans prosthetic would not hinder his job performance. The employer pays for half of their health insurance premium. Who do you think is gonna get hired? He is gonna look at the rates for both of them in his insurance plan, then holy moses. A new prosthetic cost any where from $60,000 to $120,000. The veterans premium just hit the darn ceiling of the building. So the boss calls the guy who has the cheaper premium and the veteran is left unemployed. Is this how the retired 19 year olds from the military deserve to be treated. Trust me this will happen. The prices of the prosthetics is accurate, because I am the 19 year old in this story.
That he is even considering this is a slap in the face of those that serve or have served.

So...thank you for serving us and keeping us protected, I appreciate it.
But...what does this have to do with Obama?

He is considering this. The original poster said to not start a new thread about every little thing he does or rumor you hear. If it does not include his policies. Then my post can be removed. I thought this thread was to stop all the political threads from taking up the first page in the forum. My apologies if I posted in the wrong thread.

I think you are all good as to where you posted it.
What is he considering that would change the current insurance structure? That was my question. I would think that any decision made like this would be subject to equal opportunity employment and thus the company could be sued big time.

Moprint is right. As of YESTERDAY one of my very cloe friends here in my town in the US Army Reserves that was wounded in Iraq LAST YEAR was told that HE WAS RESPONSIBLE for all future care for his injury that was sustained while he was on ACTIVE duty in IRAQ. His UNION and INSURANCE COMPANY and luckily Employeer Caterpiller when NO FREAKING way are you doing this to a wounded hero and are taking the VA and OBAMA to court over this policy latest we heard here in this town.
