Goodness gracious! There are a lot of big catches. My biggest catch was an 8lb catfish that I caught on a topwater lure at my old neighbor's pond when I was 5 months pregnant with my son. I have pics but no scanner. lol I cooked that guy up and he sure was delicious.

Orion~Sounds like a personal problem that required medication.
Does everyone have a place they prefer to fish where y'all live? Since I moved back to Tulsa I haven't been able to fish....haven't had the time but I'm making time this year now that I have the Skeeter sittin in the driveway.

I dont know about right in the tulsa area, but not too far away from you is Grand Lake. Great fishing lake there. My aunt lives up near the twin rivers area(Miami) The fishing is superb there this time of the year. Catfish, white bass, crappie...Escially if the waters up and above 65* You might check with the conservation department. The flooding a couple years ago flooded the tar river with I was told was pretty bad shape. There might be some things to be careful of. It really is great fishing over there.

LOL...I had never had catfish before I came to OK...My husband took me to a Catfish King, and they all had to come see the person who had never had catfish...it was kinda embarassing...now that I think about it

lol, well I'd have shown up. Catfish is kind of a big thing in those parts.

also the state says we shouldn't eat any catfish or carp around here because they are nasty bottom feeders.
You can eat em. Most stuff you see in the store is farm raised. But come on we eat a lot of bottom feeders, shellfish, flounder, halibut, catfish. The list goes on.

There are all kinds of places to fish in tulsa. Heck you have that giant river just flowing through the middle of town...

I watched River Monsters last night and I guess there is a place over in spain? where they have a strict catch and release. These cats are huge!

So this may not be completely on topic here but......
I was fishing a local trout stream this weekend and laying on the shore by one of my regular spots is a 20" rainbow trout. It was HUGE for this stream. I was so pissed that someone caught this fish and just left it on shore to die. Why would you not release it. If it was hurt/gut hooked or something and wasn't gonna make it then take the damn thing home and eat it. I can't even imagine how long it took that fish to get that big in this stream.........a rare gem for a stream like this for sure. SO PISSED ABOUT IT!!!!

Yeah, I wouldn't fish out of the Arkansas River in the middle of town...that is so dirty.
I usually fish out in Oologah Lake. I was asking where you liked to fish where you live? Husband and I plan on doing a lot of fishing and going to different places out of state.

Those shorts should have been a "catch and put back"

I am glad that you released the shark!! Beautiful creature

I'll have to give Blue Gill a try. Trying to fish a lot more this year since I'll have more time on my hands with the husband gone. Have to take the kids. Maybe catch something worth talking about on here. lol

For fishing with the kids, you cant beat blue gill or sun perch. find a bunch of em and you can fish all day and never have a moments rest. Lots of action. You need that to keep them excited about it. They loose interest pretty quick. Occasioanlly, you'll get something else in all the ruckuss. Bluegill is a very good pan fish.
Some of those get very large also.
They fight hard and are just down right fun to catch.
