Actually there has not been much research on them so exactly where they fall in the food chain has not been established. IMO if anything is eliminated from the food chain it will affect the ecosystem in some way. Their downfall is that they are located 800m on the bottom and ships trawling for crab and or lobster catch them in their nets

How things blend into their surroundings in order to capture food or avoid prey. This fish looks like a super super ugly human face-- my point was, what surrounding do they fit in and why. Why do they look like that. It isn't a speed modification.
