this is a very old and very crappy picture of my 55. i took it as soon as i got my new lights and didnt adjust any of the white balance on the camera (was too excited). ive redone most of my rockwork into three pillars and of course ive added a lot of stuff too. ill try to take or find some new and better pictures.

completely untrue statement... all my friends are rude, and we all like each other and get along great... rude is often funny to some degree., but 1. that guy is lieing, and nobody likes a liar... 2. his information is completely wrong, nobody likes ignorance. 3. why would you put a foxface in a 55... its just not very smart...

Hey man, this is friendly forum where people come for guidance and advice. There is no need to bash other members for any reason. If you have constructive criticism, I am sure that people would love to hear it, but personal attacks are just uncalled for.
Let me remind you this is a forum dedicated to Saltwater Aquariums... What ever happened to that?

i get a lot of info from this site... but i gotta say, the only thing i hate about it, is how people freak out over small things, i'd bet you everything i own that the guy i was talking to wasn't offended, i'm sure he was not HONESTLY offended, just in disagreement with me.
and Catawaba, where is this ignore button?... just curious..
and Brandan... yes i do remember that from third grade, that along with "the golden rule", treat others as you wish to be treated, and i'd be fine if people yelled at me for big mistakes, if it was said lightly, and nicely, honestly it wouldn't get across as good to me.
think about it, if you put a blue hippo in a 20 gallon, and didn't know the diff. and i said, "you might want to take it out", it wouldn't really get across to you, because it sounds more like an unneeded suggestion, but if i said "Get the hippo out before it dies!", my guess is you'd listen, and my point would get across and the fish would live, and the hobbyist wouldn't have a bad first experience with a dead expensive fish.

no. the 55 is 48x13, the 75 is 48x18. i really wanted the 75 because of the extra 5" of depth, and the 55 doesnt give you a whole lot of room to work with.

i say all tangs be banned from our tanks so we can be civil for once
jeez. but in all seriousness, everyone has their own oppinions of things and some people instead of aknowledging it find offence and see it almost as a personal attack, and some people overeact and only cause the situation to get worse. if someone has a different oppinion just state it and if someone else doesnt agree just leave it at that and count to ten. i really dont know where the problem came up on this thread, but in a couple of other threads ive been reading through people have gotten really upset and left swf.com. we're supposed to be here to learn and solve problems not get pissed at each other and leave.
--this concludes tango's touchy corny public service announcement...

a full gorwn yellow tang is 8 inchesyou stated yourself he is 5+ years old, meraning full grown and 8 inches... and yet he is only 1/10th the length of the tank?......you need to go back, and re-read your "sources" a yellow tangs MAX size is 8", does that mean they are all 8"...NO..mines about average..not a runt...but not a "stud" so to speak. Remember this fish has been in a 55gal tank all it's life, and many animals wil only grow as big as their surroundings allow..and dominace in the tank plays a role in that.

and even if it was a 55... why the hell would you put a foxface in it??? Ignorance is bliss. I got the tank off someone who already had the foxface, I just adopted him. If you would please read in my prior posts, they're getting a new home soon. Smaller tanks are fine for the fish, until of course they start to out grow the tank. I happen to have a juvi (maybe the size of a quater) hippo in a 30gal right now...he'd get picked on in any of the other tanks..until he grows up a bit

... way to research things buddy.. For the record, I'm not a "buddy"...buddy.

You want to act like a child, I will treat you like one. Treat others as you wish to be treated.
See above.

It's nice to have the depth also so your fish have room to swim front to back as well as side to side....or as mine like to do.."laps". Also, when you put rockwork in there it takes up alot of room where you will find in the 55gal you may no have much open room in the front nor the back of the tank. Just from our experience.

bobby1 sorry for the thread getting highjacked.
I have edited out all the needless bickering and name calling and this is a very clear warning to all that this will not be tolerated this is a public forum for the discussion of the hobby not for someone to bash another for their ideas or convictions. debates are fine as long as they are conducted in the right manner and this thread it wasnt!!
again name calling and rude arrogant behavior will not be tolerated.
again bobby1 sorry for the way some members want to express themselves!
