Well, maybe some other input from those who have done this, but I think your dog would take a heavy emotional hit if all the puppies suddenly disappeared.
LOL...I was more concerned about my mothers attachement. I didn't think a dog would care after they are weaned, but it makes sense. I hope Al Mc or Scotts will chime in, Meowzers dog had pups before too.

in my experiance, once the pups hit 6 to 7 weeks, mom spends less time with them to wean them. She is tired of them bothering her all the time lol By 8 weeks, they are fully weaned, and mom is getting on with her life. hahaha. My mom dobies had 13 and boy was momma dog ready for those brats to be gone from her life

I have been looking on the web and the only thing I can find is how we shouldn't seperate the pups from mom before 8 weeks. So I guess it will be okay...I PMed Al Mc to see what he says. I don't want to upset Tamerah and get rid of her puppies too fast, but everyone wants their puppy ASAP. I would never do 6 weeks, that's way too soon.
My mother's siamese cat used to hide her kittens when it came time to sell them. She would cry for days after they were gone. So I know mother animals do care.

This is my experience as well. Spend more time with her once the pups leave. Walks/playing...she shoud be fine.

flower I wasnt saying get rid of them before 8 weeks, you cant anyway, I was saying the momma dog will spend less time in the box with them. She knows when they need to be weaned and dosent want 10 pups jumping, and biting on her all the time. lol

Oh no, the 6 weeks comment was in regards to something on the internet, I assumed you meant keep them longer and not send them out not all at once...I would never even think to seperate a pup before 8 weeks. I got Atticus at 9 weeks, and had Tamerah stay a week longer after I purchased her for the 9 week mark. I think the dogs are better adjusted if they can stay with mom as long as possible.
Tamerah was potty trained by her mother, and if I kept the door open for her, she went outside to do her business....at 9 weeks I am not kidding. The only day she messed the kitchen floor was a rainy day. After the grandkids came and played in the pool...she liked the water and even the rain didn't bother her. I wish all puppies were that way...but alas..
The only reason I have Nov 1 (the 8 week mark) is because buyers want 8 week old puppies. I hate to say it but I have to properly home 10 puppies and make as much money as I can as well. I want to have Tamerah fixed, my house is small and this is going to be a difficult ride when the puppies can get out of the box. I really don't think I want to do this again.
Al Mc said she will be more than happy to be rid of her pups by 8 weeks and all at once is not harmful at all. So I need to find homes for my puppies.....and make a little cash. I can't believe what it costs to run an ad in the news paper.
